There's been some pretty significant changes. We'll have more on those down the road though.
I truly doubt it. Not your fault tho
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. What would make 22 feel like a new game for you?
If EA thinks that way then that’s the problem.
It doesn’t need to be a “new” game. It’s a good game as is but what needs to be the focus is making it better by fixing what’s wrong with it along with bringing back some of the things that made the game really enjoyable for a lot of players. Bringing back custom builds for EASHL is a start. Let’s see how they do it though.
I was just trying to get some feedback on what they thought would make 22 feel like it's a different game. No matter how much the game changes from year to year, we get complaints that it's the same as the previous year.

With PC version you don't have such troubles. Nobody can say it's the same like previous year :D
Ok, I know, it's not funny anymore. I just had high hopes, because I thought that Frostbite will be a game changer for PC players.
What I most like to see of all, is crossplay. When I play, there is almost impossible to find games of teams with same skill level. After a few games, there is NO games to be had, unless you wanna go to 180 ping on NA servers. So, if you divide the playerbase in 4 - PS5, PS4, xbox old and xbox new, it will be even worse.
Thus, we need crossplay, obviously I want to play on PC, but i guess im gonna be forced to buy the PS4 version to maximize playerbase. And then play it on my now useless PS5 I bought premature for this game. I guess there is alot of xboxes over in NA, but the rest of the world the sales of PS is about double last i checked. Dont think either of the new consoles have sold in huge numbers yet.
Please EA, suprise us, dont let this be NHL 15 again.. The transition to PS4 was SOOO BAD, I wanna curse. Barebone game with out the ability to play with friends!?!? In a team game of hockey, #¤"&¤%/&#R&/&%/(##
If you cant make it happen, plz patch in support for cross platform so PS4 and 5 at least can play.....I do play NHL21 for ps4 on my ps 5 and it mostly works. Just need to wait on the 4 to load the game and some synq errors.
So, fix
Crossplay
Matchmaking (can still sit on a chat with enemy-teams and either team don't find any game)
Netcode make the game playable on higher ping numbers
Consistancy to -hits -passing -body setup for shots -penalty's -everything really
Physics realistic speeds, pucks through solid objects, everything else (hoping a new engine will fix some of this)
Bugfixes All the crashes first, then reduce the stuff that "good" players do to abuse the game, make goalies increase the chance of saving repeated shots. Many "good" players score the same goal 3-7 times in a row. At least the CPU goalies...
Reconnect When the game is so buggy and disconnects are so frequent, let us reconnect to our games
Lastly, the least important stuff, presentation.
Menus are still the worst in the businesses, don't have us hold a toggle button to change options, there is enough real buttons on the controllers. Let us have a shortcut to EASHL 6s locker room, or any prefered gamemode. Let ppl download/upload rosters, music - whatever, let ppl make mods. They can actually design new gamemods for you. Just have a disclamer that say that EA will steal any good idea you come up with when you accept the terms of use..
Hope you use the last months to polish the game. I'm really pessimistic right now TBH.
Right, one last thing. Make a GM connected where a site like NHLGamer and others can setup a league in any way they like, and then export all data to a website in a userfriendly way. You could even offer users to host it yourself, (for a obscene amount of money ofc).
Visuals and presentation are nice, but where is cross-play? I understand splitting the last gen and current gen versions due to technical differences, but there is no excuse not to unite the PS and Xbox communities. Also, bringing the game to PC is long overdue and uniting PC with PS and Xbox as well.
Will the game still have terribly slow menus? What are the Quality of Life improvements?
The biggest issues with NHL are the small community and wasting time in the terrible menus. The user experience is poor even before stepping on the ice. So many people stopped playing NHL because they were sick of wasting time trying to find a match and dealing with the terrible menus.
I normally don’t care who the cover athlete is, but every time I see the new Matthews cover my jimmies get rustled.
I rolled my eyes when Ovi was on a second time, but at least 10+ years passed between periods where he was on the cover. I would have loved to have seen a new team on the cover like Barkov, Barzal, or Rantanen
Making the game playable when on anything above a 20 ping would be a great start....west coast 6s players get absolutely boned because 95% of the competitive player base is from the east/central regions. Your "central server" is the exact same ping as your eastern server...that was the final straw for me. I put the game down in december and havent missed it 1 bit, from someone who has played 1000+ 6s games a year since EASHLs inception.
Not having cross platform is going to absolutely destroy club this year, though i do think series x will have a sustainable hardcore player base depending on what platform ESPORTS goes to.

I concur. Adds to the EA staleness. How about Cale Makar, Nate Mackinnon?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. What would make 22 feel like a new game for you?
Roughly in the order of highest to lowest priority:
- Improved AI with new strategy options (they haven't changed in over 10 years now)
- Make it more difficult to rag and easier to counter ragging
- Cross-play
- A new playoff format for club (the current format is terrible)
- Allow drop-in games to be played in a normal indoor arena
- Regular jerseys for drop-ins, rather than every player wearing different gear
I'm sure I could think of a bunch of others, but it's late...

Yeah I will now vote for Finland - great hockey nation - deserve to have at least - one player at the cover - anytime in the future.
Honestly, I was expecting a lot more. For example, that he would finally swing the net after a goal. or that it won't be the same Crosby stick from the boards with a spin... I expected the replay from the game to be used and it will finally be new and look action and realistic at the same time. I expected the trailer to be a proper puck drag when the console can handle 10 times more power than the previous one. I still don't see next gen anywhere besides better graphics? Is that right? is there anything else? sorry EA but if this is what you wanted to show us it was much better nhl07 which was really next gen with wow effect....sorry I don't take this as next gen
Had to watch the trailer one more time - in peace and quiet.
It looks dope.
The way the players move and are able to turn their skates in diffrent angles, makes it look so much more natural.
Some pretty cool new animations too - when players are handling the puck.
NHL 21 is nothing to be ashamed of - but 22 looks so promising.
It will probebly blow my mind - more a question of how - much - it will blow my mind.
Great that Frostbite will be able for both generations - which will make the beta really interesting.
Damn - probebly next week!
Lets go! 😃🙏😬
please do play nhl06 .... after this please do watch nhl07 xbox360 trailer... you will blow of this world faster...
or...
please explain me where is any gameplay different from nhl15 to nhl21 to nhl22 trailer ? thx
No I dont have the strength to change another person's own opinion.
I just think it look cool - how softly and physical correct/body motion-- the players seem to have.
If no one agree to that(see that?) - im perfectly fine.
I will probebly never wanna play any other hockey game - as soon as 22 is out.
Cant wait for beta
*please post a link - of the trailers you want me to see.
reality enhancement is exactly what you are doing. there is nothing in the trailer to justify the conclusion that the game has more animation. Yes, it's definitely 60 fps. The players still have the same puck stuck to their stick as in the previous trailers. And the bodycheck on the blue care is just as unrealistic as the drive and is repeated in every trailer.
That's why I'm letting you know you were fooled by 60 fps. And that's the whole next gen trick!
1) Someone defensively batted puck out of mid-air
2) Power move by Malkin to the net
3) Someone blocked a shot
And now that I think about it, we already have players knocking pucks out of mid air so make that 2. Only thing that was noticeably new in the trailer was how reflective the ice was and maybe Auston Matthew's mustache being bit more refined.
Nobody asked for X-factors. This isn't Madden. EA's the only company that can offer hockey. Stop trying to be other games. Be hockey. Sheesh.

I think we can let the NHL 21 Deep Dive go bye bye now from the Sticky land?
