All this and no ability to create a player with no helmet or a goalie with a retro Friday the 13th hockey mask or no mask at all? Man oh man. So disappointing. It's already in the game but not available for create a player. Sad.

Just discovered that when I selected "Custom Teams" in the Play Now section and scrolled between the two teams I've created, the menu doesn't change to reflect anything but the logo. I think this is a glitch that needs to be fixed as well.

It's simple. The Alumni teams are made up of players from a bygone era (many before the CBA and other rules re: helmets).
