It's so sad to watch this series die. I've played every EA NHL game ever made and this is the 2nd game I've refused to buy (NHL 15 being the other one). You don't need to be a hockey fan to know that hockey video games are just fun to play, yet EA has managed to suck the fun right out of them... and it's all because the…

Sad to say it but it's the same online garbage as the last few games. NHL 14 was the last NHL game that ran well online. Don't waste your time, you will only frustrate yourself. I'm thinking about picking up NBA2K as well. They put a lot of effort into those games.

I don't play PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds so I can't comment on its issues but that game is still in early release. The full version doesn't even come out till the end of the year. NHL 15, 16, 17, and 18 were all released as full versions with broken online play out of the box and they had no problem charging $60-$70…

Haha. Sounds like Seth had a whole lot of other issues going on because even if you did all that you're still gonna end up with EA's crummy servers/routing/matchmaking/netcode. There's something broken within the game that the NHL team can't fix either because they aren't smart enough or aren't putting enough resources…

If I can't play a game without lagging and the lag affects the game to the point that I don't want to play it, it's broken. Furthermore, my internet is 50/15, 12ms latency, r7000 gaming router, open nat. The only game I experience lag in is NHL, for 4 years straight. And to add to all of that, EA has said there is…

Lots of lag in EASHL. It's been an issue for 4 years now; people deserve to know this before they spend $70.
-
You're right. NHL 14 was the last decent game they made. They also have released 4 games back to back to back to back with broken online play. Pretty disappointing
-
Pretty sure it runs at 60fps. The real issue is on EA's end. They've already admitted to it and stated they have no idea how to fix it. This dates back to last year's game so don't expect them to fix it any time soon. Just don't buy the game if you're interested in playing online.
-
Agreed. Not buying this game till they figure that out. Game is unplayable for me in its current state
-
Well said.

I guess I just care too much about this game and hate what they're doing (or not doing) to it. EA deserves to know and the public deserves to know that this game is in a sad state and isn't worth buying if you care about playing online.
-
I wouldn't believe it either. Most people are just bluffing when they say things like "I'm not buying this game". Truth is, I'd love to play this game if it didn't lag. NHL used to be my favourite game from 09-14. I've been with the same EASHL club (which I created) since 09. We even have our own team name in the game. But…

Yup..

I was thinking the same thing. Do it.

lol tell me one thing... Do you think it's acceptable to release a game with broken online play 3 years in a row? 3 years! That's unheard of. And it's about to be 4... Funniest part of all of this, they updated NHL 16 with only a few months left in its cycle and it was great! But then some genius decided they should change…

You're actually right. It just felt like I was being ignored. Not a single reply. No "thanks for the feedback" or "we're aware of the issues and are currently working on a fix". In all actual fact, they're aware of the issues and can't figure out how to fix them. So I hope that's comforting.
-
I agree. It's an old boys club over there. Most of the devs have been working on the same game for years with little innovation. The engine, graphics, animations, etc have gone virtually unchanged in years. The upgrade to next gen was painful and it was evident that they were in way over their heads, and what did we get…
-
Ur actually right. It just feels like I'm being ignored cause, you know, no one's ever replied... like "hey, thanks for the feedback" or "we're aware of this issue and we're working on a fix". The funny thing is, they do know there's an issue, they just can't figure out how to fix it. So they're gonna release NHL 18 with…

I'm boycotting it till they start putting effort into their games again. NHL 18 will have the same network issues as 17 did. They couldn't fix it last year... they could've changed things up but instead they decided to pump out the same game with a few new modes/dekes, so that's why NHL 18 hasn't been any better. I've been…

Did you even play NHL 15, 16, and 17? I'm telling you right now that NHL 18 will have all the same network issues that 17 had. I'd hold off on your preorder
