  • This. The AI is passable in one-on-one battles for the puck. Other than that, they're hot garbage. Constantly out of position in your own end. Can't find open space in the offensive end. Won't skate two feet out of their predetermined skating path to pick up a loose puck that's right in front of them, but will leave the…
  • There's video evidence of this exact exploit in NHL 14. They've had years to fix it. At some point "it's hard to fix" gives way to "it's not important enough to work on".
  • Being aware of it doesn't matter if they don't fix it. It's not like this is new to NHL 17. This exact exploit has been in the game for years ( at least as far back as NHL 14 ). The fact that it's still in the game is inexcusable.
  • I don't think there really needs to be any attempt to distinguish between the two. If your internet connection is so poor that it causes the game to lag for your opponent you should get booted and take a loss. It's not like the requirements are all that high. If your connection can't manage the fairly low requirements for…
  • Looks neat. Although it looks like it's only worth doing more than the bare minimum if you expect to place very high. I think most people would see a better return playing regular seasons.
  • The AI defense are pants-on-head stupid around their own net. Constant turning into the net, attempting passes through the net and/or goalie instead of around the boards and the always popular decision to ignore the open winger on the half-boards and instead pass it directly into the slot from behind the net. My "favorite"…
  • The downside to that is a lot of games that used to be a comfortable 3 or 4 goal win have become random crapshoots that are more and more decided by who got the lucky bounce or the bad goalie instead of who played the better game.
  • I wonder how much of the "hide the puck in the boards invincibility" is due to people poking where they can see the puck vs where the game thinks the puck is? Again, I'm just spitballing based on what I see in the clip. Maybe NHLDev could step in and clear things up? As for the puck not going where you'd expect on a…
  • Yeah, it's likely the difference between what the game displays and what it calculates internally regarding where the puck is. As much as it doesn't make sense visually I'd imagine that the game's internal logic treats the puck as if it's on the player's stick when the stick is "inside" the boards even though it shows the…
  • Playoffs were over the weekend. They ended last night I believe.
  • Why do I get the feeling you didn't really read my post? To reiterate, I find myself switching less because: A: Switching to the player you want to control is seemingly random. B: Even when you switch to the player you want by the time you can get them skating in the direction you want they're already out of position. If…
  • I wonder how much of an impact the crappy player switching has on people "letting the AI play for them"? I know on the odd occasion that I do play VS I find myself switching players a lot less than I would have back in NHL 09, 10, etc. Back then I played a lot of VS and switching players was fast and intuitive. In the more…
  • My club has a similar problem but it's been going on for at least a month. I'd guess we get one home game for every six or seven road games.
  • Same thing here. Won the playoffs Friday, got one game in tonight and now we can't play at all with the error code above coming up every time we match up. I'm not one to normally slam developers but between this and the crash bug on the entry draft of franchise mode I really wonder if anybody bothered to test this game at…
