How many shovels are you saving for Act 2?

Replies

  • I'm currently using most of mine to attain more crafting materials but I'm trying to save a few to get a bit of a head start on act 2 so maybe around the 100 mark saved.

As soon as I get the last prize I'm going to stop digging until I save up 199. Then I will just dig to use what I earn over 199 so as not to waste them.

reversing that strategy may be more practical. it would nerve me to keep a constant eye on the cap. calculate how long it takes, given your game playing style, to aquire 199 shovels. just play until you reach the moment where the left time is needed to fill the store to the brim. and maybe a bit more if it is like the sh stores.
  • If I can complete act 1 early I assume I will do the same for Act 2 so saving shovels is pointless. Usually we get free donuts for continuing after all the prizes are obtained. I never pass up free donuts

Do make sure you pass on the re-rolls, at $150,000 each they're not cost effective vs. KEM/RatTrapTruck farming (re-rolls for those only cost $50,000)

Is anyone else finding it hard to get shovels? I tap and tap, it is hard. I can't see me finishing this task even though I am on all day.

The only way to get shovels is from the tasks at the Mom & Pop Hardware store - there are only 7 characters you can send there, for a max. of 17 shovels every four hours which seems to be more than enough.

If you don't have the premium characters though, it would cut that almost in half making it a lot tougher.

I will go for all the prizes first before any hoarding takes place.

This. Including the main track prizes as I can get tons of fossils from digging. Just skip astound the gem a bit, adds up.

You get the same amount of fossils per shovel weather you use them on one excavation or on many excavations. Best strategy is still to get the gem in as few moves as possible
Example: (assuming no bonus from panini press)
Use 100 shovels to clear 3 excavations you get 3600 fossils and 3 gems
Use 100 shovels following the pattern on 14 excavations you get 3600 fossils and 14 gems (assuming avg 7 digs to find gem)
plus tachyons and specimens from 14 excavations.
Whoa, whoa, whoa – I only accept cash, bitcoin, or GameStop stock.

I'll get both of the main prices in akt 1 before thinking of saving anything. I've gotten the baby t-rex just now and working towards moe's cave..
  • It's act 2, so save 2 shovels for it.

I'm going to hoard one shovel, just because we all need a shovel for unexpected events that might arise. Other than that, I play often enough to not need a head start and will continue playing the fun digging game!

Easier to make donuts, also no limits.

No limits to what? So we can store more than 199 shovels?

Depending on the amount of shovels you generate, you could calculate a set amount of shovels used versus shovels saved past a set point.
like using 5 out of 10 shovels generated, or 10 out of 17 shovels generated.
whatevs though, im going to aim for having 199 for act II.

    i have 85 already
  • i'm not opening another thread for this but did it come to your mind that the shovels are of very poor quality. judging from the size of a double door near my excavation site i think they last only 15m3. better start saving a lot.

Maybe this has been answered, but do you get the same amount of "treasures" if you hit the gem with the first shovel, or the 10th?

Aha!! I thought there was a difference, but it is between grass and dirt, not number of shovels. Thanks meinaz and frosted1414, I toally missed that.
