I play on an iPhone 3GS. I built El Chemistri and then hit a bonus level, although I'm 95% sure my XP was nowhere near high enough to have been put over the limit prior to the build. First attempt I netted only one donut, so I spent the $50000 to try again and got 3 donuts. Then, within a minute or two, I was kicked out and have only have the harp glitch since. I've tried hard closing the app many times to no avail, and now I've tried leaving the harp running until the device closes it automatically once, and that didn't work either. I'll try try again now. I'm effing hoping that I get a bunch of free glitch donuts from this... but more than anything I just want to be able to play the game again!
Speaking of which, if any of my friends are reading, I won't be able to visit until this is fixed.
Oh, and I did already follow the link posted by elsie_d to add my voice to the chorus of affected, but I haven't opened a case yet. Guess I'll go try to figure out how to do that now.
i could never get this trick to work on the iPhone, but it worked on the iPad. i turned off all the other apps, plugged it in (iPad4) and let it run after turning off the autolock. after about 20 minutes the hearts sound stopped and came up to the bonus donut screen.. i got a ****-load of donuts!! I have every premium item and character now!

Woo-Hoo!!
I have tried (about 20 times per day since Friday) doing this on my iphone or ipad and both always have the app crash like clock work at the 14 minute mark. So today I thought I would try both at the exact same time. No change both still crashed at the 14 minute mark.
Now im not sure which I am frustrated by. The fact that I cant play, or the fact I cannot take advantage of the donut glitch... :?
What seems to be happening is that the harp play is the sound of leveling up where you would get the donut game, so the more people have run it, the more donut games they have queued up once they get back in. FOr those of us that aren't getting back in I fear the donut glitch will be cleared up one we do get back in. If it isn't then I should be primed for many donut games. 20 times 2 devices times 5 days times 100 harp strums per try equals 20000 donut games. Wouldn't that be awesome...
My harp bug experience is much like everyone else's.
I finished building El Chemistri and Kaboomed! the building down.
Then I clicked on Willie to complete his bagpipe quest and instant crash.
Upon restarting the game I got a single looping harp on the splash screen. Since then I have tried multiple times just letting it sit and make the harp noise. It eventually closes after 15 minutes or so. Sometimes now it makes a double harp noise "blingbling", other than that no difference in getting in.
I've tried it on FIOS and Comcast, so it's not my connection that's for sure. I put in a trouble ticket to EA and made sure to include the fact that hundreds, if not thousands or their paying customers were experiencing this issue. I am expecting their form letter on how to fix it in return, despite having included the form letter as part of the troubleshooting steps I took.
To tide me over in the mean time, I've started playing on Android. Only there's no Origin and no adding friends to visit their town. Perhaps that's why it hasn't crashed on me once yet...
So i was having the typical harp freeze experience. built wiggum house, screen freeze, crash, then nothing but harp from Friday eve until this morning. This morning I did the typical "I'll leave it until it crashes" trick. This was probably my 30th try (give or take). Magically the harp freeze went away and the level up bonus screen appeared. I just finished with that screen and got 943 donuts! I did not believe the other posters when they claimed this to be true. But I'm here to tell you, it worked for me. I'm sitting on a nice pile of donuts now and I still have all my hearts. So keep trying if you are still affected by the harp freeze. Apparently it will go away eventually with a huge payoff.

my friend got 850 donuts from the glitch thingy. im starting to want this to happen to my game! i havent been playing that much anyways id take donuts in exchange for being locked out. lol. 100 donuts wouldnt be worth it tho, i want 800
Have not been able to get into the game now for about two days. Have over 200 donuts and 700 hearts waiting for me. EA needs to get their *%&* together and fast. How are we supposed to spend more of our money on your game if we can't get in?
I'm not rich or anything but there are several things that cost donuts so yeah, I gave in and bought.
My last building was El Chemistri and tried to click on the next task that was finished and the game crashed. Haven't been able to get back in since. Logged in with a different account on the same device and was able to get right in.

I only ended up getting about 150 donuts.
I think whats happening is that every harp sound you hear is you "levelling up". So the trick to getting the most donuts is to allow the harp sound to trigger as much as you can stand. ie, start the game, let it harp until it crashes. Do it over and over to get lots of harps in.
When you've finally had enough, then turn auto-lock off, close all applications, turn auto-rotate off, plug in your ipad, and start the game and leave it there for half an hour. You can then cash in every harp you heard (ie, every fake level up) for donuts.
That other guy got 900 donuts because he tried to unbug his game 30 times, and must have left his game harping for hours.
subroc, your theory is correct. I just hope I get back in to take advantage before its all fixed. Not sure which is worse, not playing or not being able to take advantage of the donut bonus.
After about 20-30 tries of loading, closing, reloading over the last 2 days, I just let it sit on the harp screen and kept tapping on my screen so it wouldnt auto-lock. Took about 10-15 minutes, then I got in to the bonus level-up screen.
I managed to collect 1046 donuts before it crashed back to home screen. Got back in right away, no more level-up bonus. I was selfishly hoping the harp glitch would come back so I could get the rest of the premium items I couldnt get (its crazy that 1000 donuts didnt even scratch the surface), but I cant replicate it anymore. Loads fine every time.
I tried everything and it still doesn't work.
1- clear from history and retry = nothing
2- delete the whole game and reinstall 75MB of updates = still nothing
3- switched iPad off and on again = nothing once more.
I don't believe it, but I'm back in after only two days!!! The downside is, I could not take advantage of the donut glitch... I tried letting the harp run on my iPad 1 several times without success yesterday. It always crashed back to the home screen after less than 10 minutes. Now it tried it on my iPhone 5 with plugging it in, it worked on the first try. I kept tapping it so often and so fast, my arm is hurting now. But after almost exactly 15 minutes my town reappeared with the level up bonus donut screen. But the game must have recognized my last two taps first as the choice of one of the offered bonus boxes (got me two donuts) and second as the "buy another box for 50000" tap. So before I could do anything it told me I don't have enough money to buy another box and hang up on the window asking me if I wanted to buy more money. Sadly I couldn't do anything else at this point but leave the game by pressing the home button. When I restarted it, I was back in immediately and got my two bonus donuts. But when I pressed "take it" the bonus screen disappeared and didn't show again... Feeling a little bit cheated right now but am SO happy to be back in the game.
On the funny side: the game feels much snappier now, somehow faster, more responsive to taps and loads other towns faster. Anyone else notice this?

Only thing the App does is kill its self after 15 minutes of "wonderful" Harp Sound

Balls
It's such a pain.
How was it fixed last time around and how long did it take
