Starter at level 8.

I have 107 donuts, should I buy anything? What would be the most beneficial thing for me to get?
I'm Bartman. Level 104, feel free to add me!

  • Hey.

Welcome to the fourms and to the game. The problem is where you are, you need just about everything, plus most things aren't available until later levels.

I would get whatever you think you will get the most enjoyment out of. Thats the best part of this game, its your town. Make it how you want it to be.

I would go with mystery boxes if you haven't got the characters available. They will help bring money into your town which is the most important thing at the beginning of the game.
  • The jet engine bikes at level 12 or 14 that would help get more money and xp the butterfly tent is the least benificil , mystery boxes haven't been kind to me, I bought a laffy meal once that was a waste of 25 donuts, the best thing in the world is beach hideaways for xp boost-
  • ALL mystery boxes!
Whoa, whoa, whoa – I only accept cash, bitcoin, or GameStop stock.
  • Nothing....hold onto the donuts because you will regret burning through donuts then IMMEDIATELY they will release something for the same number of donuts you JUST spent and when/if they release that item again, it may be clumped together with other things you don't want in a "bundle deal" thus costing you more donuts or you may buy something that will block you from something you may want later because that bundle includes something you already have so since you already have something in that bundle, you miss out on EVERYTHING in that whole bundle!!!

That being said, I waited 3+ years for the Mayan calender to be re-released and really like that. :D lol
  • Hi and welcome to the forum!

I'd actually recommend against the Mystery Box. With just 107 donuts it's a bit risky to blow it all on mystery boxes. The long-term averaging we see with the MB (7-8 donuts/%) only really applies if you're buying a lot, otherwise you're risking a poor return if on a bad "cycle". True, you could get a better than average return, but those 107 donuts are very precious. If you just want multiplier go with Beach Hideaways if you can upgrade them, and don't already have them. If you just want to play, as has been said, it's up to you but the vault items will stretch your budget.

Beach hideaways are not available until level 30. The first mystery boxes are more likely to give you Blue Haired lawyer, Squeaky voice teen, and Kearney. I wouldn't spend all the donuts on them, but enough to get the three premium characters.

True enough. Didn't register about the level.

SVT only has a 24 hr task when you get him at the lower level. You don't have any of the buildings necessary for his tasks until later.

    ^^^^this.
I started with lower cost items that offered a % bonus, or I simply liked it a lot. Also spent the in game cash (IGC) on things that helped with the conformity meter (the gold stars) till I had that at 5stars all. Helps you get more $$ and Xp. Made the biggest early on difference.
I didn't do mystery boxes, while really good for % bonus items, I also got a lot of crude I didn't want in town but I hear it's a cheaper way to get booster items.
I also obsessed with building a working town that looked like a town. :) first 50 levels in just a few days :) and the events because you get a lot of great $$ earning buildings and decoration items for free.
    Rule 1: have fun.
I don't know **** about any other rules.
    :D
    And Welcome :)

I assume the vault is available regardless of level... check that for discounted deals on items. It will change every week through Sep, I believe; so you might see something you really want in there and get it for less than normal.

  • I found it more fun to focus on adding characters and buildings in the beginning rather than the multiplier- after all, you need a good base for it to multiply, anyway. If it were me I'd buy a few mystery boxes and keep some donuts in reserve for upcoming rebate deals.
  • I recommend starting with mystery boxes. There are a few premium characters as prizes.

  • TSTO is a single player game, whatever you do will not affect anybody else. If you are a freemium player, buy what makes you happy. At this point, you don't have the level or the resources to do much. Just follow the quest lines and enjoy the ride. The majority of the people on the forum have been playing for several years, and have built up cash farming and donut farming operations, so don't think you are missing out on anything at level 8.
  • Mystery Box! Blue Hair Lawyer, Kearny, Squeaky voice Teen, Tire Fire, Lemon Tree.

Yes yes yes this this this!!!!
  • Don't feel pressured to spend them now. Be aware that no single purchase you make now is going to dramatically change your game short-term. You still need to spend lots of time doing quests to level up, collecting lots of money to build buildings, etc.

Having said that I think my first premium purchase was Crazy Cat Lady (at her Black Friday price). Didn't unlock crazy things or boost the multiplier but I never regretted that being my first purchase.

  • I spent my first batch of donuts on walking Candyman NPC. I didn't know that donuts are so precious then.
  • I spent my first batch of donuts on rushing everything.
