  • I'm having the issue, just got off the phone with a "Specialist" at EA who told me that they are no longer rolling back accounts affected by this issue because he claims the roll back aren't working. Is there anyone that can confirm/deny what this rep has told me? My game has been glitched since Thursday and I'm getting frustrated with the EA Run Around.

    I would keep pushing them for a rollback, they say all sorts of things (most of which aren't true) to get rid of you when they cant/wont help you. Like telling people to post here

  • Reporting in just to create awareness.

    I have this problem going on for the third time since December. Before I got the rollback in 2 days, but this time no action other than "We’ve sent your case to our team of specialists..." since last Thursday.

    I'm now trying to ask for the proper fix and see how it goes, since I believe I'll be having these issues again sooner or later if I go for the rollback.

    I just started having these same issues this morning. It started with messages popping up about old events. Then Gil showed up. Character locator not working. Old missions in my log. Smallest tap radius. Money mountain smallest. Friendship points set to 1. Railyard not working.
    My partner has had this issue for almost 2 weeks and is still waiting for a rollback. I hope EA is working on a fix.

    I hope you're not waiting for them? You need to get in touch with them immediately and stay on them until they fix it.

    I called them immediately after I posted here and the CSR told me they were aware of these issues. He spoke with a Specialist and they rolled back my game to some point yesterday and it worked! He said the sooner you report the issue the easier it is for them to roll the game back for you, but they are working on a fix for it.

    Glad they helped you roll back, but sad to say that they have said they have been working on a fix for over 9 months now........

    I got hit by this issue this morning. I just contacted ea (see below). Is it better to choose the technical support option or report a bug option?

    Edit: technical support is the answer.
    Hello. This morning, March 13, I logged on to my Simpsons tapped out game and many old events popped up. Also my IRS building tap radius has gone back to 1, Springfield heights has restarted, my character box in the upper left corner no longer jumps to the characters, the monorail no longer works properly, and money mountain, redwood, and friend points have all reset.
    I tried logging off and back on, and uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
    I did some research on the tapped out forums. It appears this has been going on since June 2017 and has affected many players.

    This thread had the best information. There appears to be two fixes. A little known and little used fix or a roll back. I would prefer the fix but will accept the roll back to Monday March 12.

  • Need help desk phone number I am experiencing all of the problems. They also sent me a badge for playing a year, but I have been playing for 4 years. Opened a ticket which they closed. For some reason I can't find their direct phone number. Does anyone have it? (Each time I check problem reporting and go to contact ...it says email is the best).

    I don’t know that there is a phone number you can call. When contacting support via their web site, if you live in the U.S. you should be able to specify a call back option where support contacts you by phone. See this forum web link for details.

    The badge specifies how long you been a forum participant, not how long you’ve played the game.

    I've tchat 3 times with EA, the last call they said me the best is to complain on EA Forums. Really Helpfull !

    I think this is very important to explain to potential users that playing this game is dangerous ! because you can spend money for donuts and after loose the content !

  • So after my game was fixed on Sunday for the 4th time, I got hit for the 5th time on Monday. This time the fix took two days, and it was a roll back to last Thursday, so I lost a bit of progress on current event. But I really don't mind about that.

    During this 48 hour long wait-for-a-fix, the bug hit me twice more. So counting every single time the bug (and Gil) has appeared for me, it's closing to a dozen already. Now I'm really starting to dread opening up the game.

    I hope whatever was the st pats mini event is fun. I'll never know because I lost that right after starting it. I added that to my case with tech support. Mine's been going on since the start of the last event. Best offer I got was a rollback losing more than a month of progress (and sad to say, real money for donuts) and a whopping 40 donuts for my trouble. FYI - for anyone new with this bug, you must contact tech support. If you contact them through report a bug, they will just say thanks for letting us know, will tell our tech people and close the case. Report a bug is not a way to actually get help. EDIT...the event I lost was the 18th amendment and the st pats, mini mini thing.
  • Well, I just got it again. Sent in an email to support. I may be done with the game this time.
  • So, since my game broke with the 2nd login after just 1 hour after it was successfully rolled back, I called EA again on the phone.

    This EA rep was sincerely helpful. He asked since my case has a 9 month running history of the progression of this issue, if I could spend some time with him as he loops in multiple departments to look at me case as a means of helping everyone with a general fix.

    One reason for this is because my game is one of the RARE instances when an EA rep actually figured what was broken in the game (which was due to bugged variables) and actually did a REAL fix (corrected all the wrong variables) ( https://forums.ea.com/en/the-simpsons-tapped-out/discussion/comment/1889528/#Comment_1889528 ).

    After I explained details of the history of this glitch (including how this has grown to more players with each update since the Time Event last year in June), and how my game was actually fixed, he put me on hold for about 10 minutes as he talked with another tech department.

    He came back asked a few more details, and put me on hold for another 15 minutes as he looped in the higher management levels to look at my case that actually showed a proven fix.

    He came back and said he is trying to get in contact with the development rep that actually figured out the real fix and is trying to get her and the development team and the upper management levels to talk together to apply this fix for not only my game that is now broken for the 7th time in 9 months....but for everyone.

    So after about an hour on the phone.......He did say that the upper management team said that they are getting really close for a public update release fix and hopes this insight into how my game was fixed will help finalize their update for release. He did say that even though there is not an ETA for the release he said that he had collaborated confirmation from both the development team and the upper management that is is coming very soon. When I said that I have heard that for 9 months, he said that each time that is noted in my account by an EA rep there are no notes from the development about this but this time he has this from their team.

    He did say that since they are so close to a fix release that rolling back a game right now could actually hinder the benefits of what the upcoming fix would address.

    So....can't say anything for sure, but he did (for a nice change) really take the time and was drawing in 3 different departments together (the original EA developer that actually found a fix for my broken game / development team / upper management team) to get a final fix.
  • @hobbesisreal Thanks for posting about your latest ‘trial by EA’. I am sure that all other players with this bug appreciate your incredible efforts in trying to get this sorted out. You certainly have a lot of stamina to stick with it so long and really hope they do a full roll out fix soon.
