I was just got with this bug today. Early in the morning everything was normal, in fact the current heist quests are still working perfectly. but as I explored my town, i realized that some things weren't right. My friendship level, Burns'money mountain, Mars colony have all reset to 1. Tap radius at lowest level as well. My Redwood Tree is gone! Tire fire is awarding ribbons, Springfield games pin collection is missing. The snowman and gingerbread mansion can't be changed and no Rail yard quests

FYI, the character icon is not original to the game, it was a later addition. Those of us around during that time remember what a pain it could be finding everyone, especially as our towns grew and grew. I dont even want to think about it now, with over 300 playable characters, not to mention an enormous town! Yikes!

I have this issue too for the past few months. Level 149 player. Do not want to rollback and lose my progress but it is frustrating to play with the bug.

I truly admire your willingness to continue playing with a broken game. Mine got the glitch about 24h ago and I've basically stopped playing. Just clearing all completed tasks without the large tapping radius and working character locator is more than I can (and am willing to) handle.
In expectation of most likely having the game rolled back to Saturday, there's no realy purpose in continue playing, anyway.
Just got off the phone with a rep (in Austria by calling the German phone number) who rolled back my game to last Saturday as we spoke and it's working again now and with the expected loss of progress that I made since Friday. I'm now behind a bit in this event but will hopefully be able to catch up again.
My recommendation is, don't wait any longer than necessary and try to get a rep on the phone instead of going the email route. I didn't file a ticket on Sunday as I immediately intended to give them a call today, 24h later and well below the 72h response time for an email ticket - with actual EA agents in local language and with much better interaction ability.

I have surrendered being able to do this event. It is very hard to walk away from 4 and a half years of playing but I don't see that we have any option if they don't fix it.

I've rolled back twice and the game has broken twice. Rolling back doesn't solve the problem, it just delays it. A PROPER patch needs to be released by EA in order to permanently fix this.
My play time has been reduced significantly because of this and EA don't seem to give a damn. Eventually, I think I will stop playing, just giving them a bit of time to address the issue.

A rollback only resolves the issue temporary.
I had the issue 1,5 week ago. Rolled back, played for a couple of days and since last Friday the issue is back again.
So, you can put some effort to someone give you a rollback or just wait for EA to fix the issue (which can take a day or 700 years ).
Everyone who has this glitch needs to contact EA again and again until you get a rep who will roll your game back while you are on the phone. They can do it. Don't believe their **** about they can't or there's a patch coming, or you'll go to the back of the help list. That is all **** they will say to get you off the phone.
Respectfully and firmly don't take their ****.
Call them back and start a new case every time they will not help you or close your case without fixing it. Chat or phone is the best options for help, but people have gotten the rollback using email. Try to contact when the Texas office might be open.

No, it does not. After the first rollback I was fine for months. The second rollback lasted little over 1 week before the bug got me again.
Want to give everyone a quick update on my game. I've been dealing with this problem since December during the holiday event. It took them 2 weeks before they'd agree to do a roll back so at that time because I was so far into the event I declined the roll back and have been waiting ever since for a resolution. I had reached out once or twice since my declining their roll back offer to touch base and was told I had to wait it out, it was being looked into. Today I got an unprovoked email from EA apologizing that there is no fix yet, and offered me 50 donuts for my trouble. While that doesn't nearly cover the amount of donuts I have not been able to earn since the rail yard is broken, its something, no matter how small.. My game is still not fixed but they've given me 50 donuts and another reassurance that the issue is still being looked into.
