Is it possible to get my original town back after they give me a template town without my permission?
The only way you’re going to find out is by contacting EA Help. And, I would imagine, the longer you wait, the lower your chances are of recovering your old town.
I did contact them already and they said they could not do it but I am going to call when I think I might get a good representative this morning but I was just wondering if it was possible because they told me it was not but I do not believe what they say usually.
Ive never heard of anyone successfully doing this, but I guess the only thing you have to lose is time. Try to call during normal business hours in the United States, you will have a better shot of getting through to a US call center. You can keep trying until you do get throught. Good luck to you, let us know how you make out if you dont mind

I suspect that you’re right — @mlavanway is going to come away disappointed. I’ve never heard of anyone who was successful in having an old town restored after having been assigned a template town, but, then again, I don’t recall anyone having tried.

I think there was one user who was given a template town without asking. Later he updated that it was sorted out. I think.
Good news is they were able to restore my original town 21 it was a few days ago when it was actually working! however none of the issues of sticks obviously but I have my original Town back and did not lose 6 years of progress but stuff like the character icon does not work still. I think I will manage for now and maybe one day I will contact them again and see if they can fix their bugs variables like they have done before even for me.

First off, congrats. Second, as far as I know, they have only "fixed the variable" once, maybe twice that I know of, every other time they have either denied that it exists or flat out refused to do it.

@mlavanway Glad you got your town back!
I was just trying to find relevant posts about someone having a template town applied without their permission:
Yet another email from EA What have I done to deserve this????
"Thank you for contacting EA. My name is Rishabh & I am following your case today.
First of all I really appreciate your patience for the length of time you have been waiting for a response. Regarding your concern of repeated game glitches I would like to let you know that I have applied a level 939 template land to your email : t*********@hotmail.co.uk.
So I would like to request you please make sure that you will wait at least 2 hours before logging back in. You just need to tap " Play now" and " continue" to accept the changes made to your land.
I can see you are a passionate player, so I really don't want your gaming experience to be ruined. I have also added 50 donuts as a good will gesture to your account for the trouble so far."
They've applied a template town without my permission!! I've never said I wanted a template town...why would I want that after all this time??? I feel like they've nuked my Springfield. I'm not logging in and accepting it and I've asked for a roll back in the hope they can reverse this ridiculous decision. I hold little hope.
Well could it be....a miracle?? I finally, by some fluke got in contact with a brilliant EA helper called Anthony D
"Thanks so much for continuing to stick with us. Our apologies for the length of the core issue, but also for the somewhat bumpy ride with us so far.
Didn't mean to scare you with the template land. It would indeed not have been your same Springfield. I also see where we tried to roll the game back for you, but were unsuccessful in that as well.
At this point, your best option is definitely to go with the rollback. Currently, the most viable rollback date is on March 16 where you were still at level 939. You will lose progress and Donuts made during the period of time being rolled back, but I'm going to be granting 1000 Donuts to your account once I'm finished. On top of that, if you have receipts, I will also restore the Donuts you purchased during the rollback period. Just attach them to your case when you respond. I will also need you to remain logged out of the game across all devices for 48 hours after we confirm the rollback. This final step can help prevent it from happening again.
Last and most important piece is that in order for this to work properly, I also need to ask that you fully log out of the game now by opening the friends menu, tapping on the
badge button, then selecting Log Out of your EA account. Once this is done,
please close the game. It is important that you please remain logged out of
your game until you hear back from me with further instructions. This will help
to ensure our ability to successfully perform these changes."
I've left it much longer than the 48hrs and my Springfield is back up and running as of 7.53 on 30th of may. Let's see how long it lasts. The main thing is I was able to refuse the template town and they can roll back to a point where THEY can see your town was fine. Why cant all help desk people be this good???
I am feeling annoyed over the inconsistent and disparate service quality of EA support.
Yes I agree! this morning through email I was told my original town was lost but when I called they were able to restore my original Town within minutes! I believe if I call and I am nice I can get them to maybe fix the bug variables which they actually have done for me a long time ago when this first started but then the glitch came back and I did not call back to get fixed again because I heard about Hobbes here who kept getting hit and I believe an actual fix was coming.
Which I believe an actual fix did come and that it won't happen again but that does not fix my problem because I would have to roll back all the way to November and by the time that was offered to me I do not want to lose all my progress. But since I have found how to fix the tap radius I will be okay for now.

I agree in the main with your point about being nice. One can reach a critical juncture with some of these help staffers where you need to be firm (not rude, but firm).
The other point to be made is that regardless of how nice you are, some of these staffers simply cannot help you. They won’t admit this to you, but some of these guys either lack the ability or the smarts to do much more than read through a basic script.

Sorry to hear what you have been through. I went through a lot of frustrating exchanges with them by emails. They simply refused to believe that I only got email support and said that only call support could get the help.
And when they finally agreed to rollback my game, they said they will not give me the donuts' compensations even though in their official mass emails, they gave details about the donuts compensation. I actually do not need the donuts but I am annoyed about the lack of credibility and principles. I did get the small amount of donuts in the end. Though I lost much more donuts later due to donuts not syncing for many days after a rollback.
There are other users who are also playing with a glitched game rather than losing their progresses. I could empathize with the frustrations. I lost the progresses of two small mini events due to EA decision to stop providing rollbacks for a period until they sent out the mass emails.
Hello all! I would gladly tell you that since this forum has been dead for a few months, The Glitch has likely been solved, right? (I can't even tell if someone thinks that's true, I haven't bothered checking the other forums) Anyways! If you thought that, you were wrong!
See, I've recently started playing again (after a few years of not playing) and after like a week (10 days? who knows!) I was hit. The Glitch! However, I was pretty lucky, since what popped up was the finding Maggie minigame. Repeatedly. For an hour. And that's the story of how I got over 750 donuts in one night. Donuts that I immediately spent on Christmas stuff! Yay!
However, I know it's The Glitch because old events have been popping up, notably a thanksgiving event, Duffland, something to do with a cauldron (that I can't use because I don't have said cauldron) and the Springfield games (my translation might be a bit off since I'm playing in French). But the train, the tap zone and the character selector all seem to be working fine, so I will not waste my time harassing EA until old Gil tries to sell me Duffland and breaks something this time.
That's it! Just a quick heads-up saying that after 2 years, The Glitch has not been fixed even though a solution has been "around the corner" for roughly 18 months.
I have seen a couple reports of new cases, but nothing like it was, so they did do something to prevent it.
Their solution was a rollback. That's it. There is no other solution.
If your situation gets any worse, to fix it you will have to rollback to before it started, so you are gambling with every minute.
I

Just want to second what @EllieGuseman said here. My "glitch" hit on March 30th of 2018. I recently went back and forth with EA support a week or so ago to see if they would attempt to fix it, without using a rollback or a template town. I was shot down repeatedly, and told no matter what, regardless of who got involved, it would never happen any other way. So I am now in a position of playing with a glitched game forever, as I refuse to throw 9 months of time, effort and reward down the drain.
So, enjoy your donuts if you wish, but if you have any hope of playing a fully functional game again, think hard about doing a rollback while you have the chance, and won't lose too much.

Sorry to hear that. They do practice discriminatory service support. They actually didn't want to compensate me the donuts although in the official email, they stated clearly the framework for donuts compensation due to the rollback. I actually do not need the donuts but it is a matter of principle.

I don't know if it will make you feel any better but I've been playing for going on 6 years and about 2.5 of that has been with a broken game.

While it makes me feel better that I am not alone, it does not make me feel better that someone else has it even worse off than I do. In fact, it just makes me sad.
Sad that the entire situation even exists. Sad they have never shown the slightest sign of remorse or regret for it occurring, and sad that they won't attempt a fix, which others on this very forum have received, to correct it without blasting away great amounts of time and effort.
I've sent you a friend invite, so at least when I go through my friend visits I can feel empathy when visiting your town, and hopefully you mine.
As of today, 3/26/19, US based techs have been told not to escalate as they are working on a "fix". It is clear that after a year (pushing 2 years) EA has no desire to address this problem and fix the game without sacrificing players' paid progress and content. My game is broken, has been broken, and will be broken and there isn't a darned thing I can do about it. EA clearly does not give a hoot. Either that or the lowest bid, overseas contractors hired to address the issue lack the knowledge and experience to fix it. It is clear that they do little testing prior to release of any patches and/or updates. I guess that is a cost savings. Anyway, I have been a loyal fan and player for over 5 years and I am fed up and leaving. This is disgusting. There are far too many games to waste my time and money on to put up with a shoddy experience.

Once again, you save the day. I only could definitely remember hobbes, i was pretty sure there were 2 though. Again, thanks @Muhsterino
