same problems here:
1) Can't quick link to a character by clicking on their picture on the upper left
2) Graphic to Burn's money mountain reverted to level 1 and I can't click on it.
3) All characters I unlocked in Springfield heights are now locked again.
4) Friendship level reverted back to 1.
5) The tap radius (IRS) has been set to level 1
support doent/cant/want help... any ideas??
No one here can help. Your only recourse is to re-contact EA. Don’t let up. Pester them until they eventually refer you to someone with the knowhow to fix your game.

I am experiencing the very same issues. EA told me to stay put, the studio would be working on fixing this. Looking into forums, this problems exists since July. So i guess i have to swallow the bitter pill and find someone who roll my town back. Will I also lose the progress made in the event or can they somehow go around that?

Yes, unfortunately a rollback will result in the loss of all progress made since the rollback date. One user reported that an EA staffer had fixed his town without recourse to a rollback (and thus preserving almost all of his progress) but that is the lone exception I’m aware of.
And there is no chance they are going to fix that with an update?
Anything’s possible, @Pipihirn, but this bug dates back quite a few months. If they were going to fix this in a patch/update, the chances are they would have done so by now. I’m speculating (which one is forced to do since EA is notorious about not communicating to it user base the particulars about bugs), but my guess is that this particular bug is one that can’t be simply fixed with a patch.
A great guy, named Rishabh, was able to do a roll back for me. Progress lost, but only for two days, game is back to normal. KrustyBrand was right, you have to ask for a specialist, be friendly and ask them to do a "roll back".
This has been going on for a long time. I had hoped it was fixed. I want to say if we can figure out what sets it off but no 2 stories sound alike. I have the dam and have not had this issue as do a few of my friends so pretty sure we can rule that out and I think the first case was pre dam.

I was in contact with EA customer service and that was waste of time, they just sent link how to reinstall app or something. I have already tried with two devices, cleared cache etc. Tomorrow I have to contact them again... Arrggghh.

Waste of your time to post here. No one here has the ability to fix your problem. Check some of the other posts on this thread about returning to EA Help and requesting a rollback.
Okay after I was unrelenting in accepting the SAME canned copy & pasted "official" answer of a patch will be released soon to fix this, the 9th rep finally was honest......
I have been hit by this bug TWICE!!! The first time they rolled back my game to the last working day, the replaced the items I lost in the rollback, and it fixed everything.
Basically now he said that when I was hit by this same bug a few months back, they did roll my game back and it fixed it. But now that there are soooo many people hit with this bug they are NOT taking the time to roll back each individual game effected......even though they KNOW THIS WILL FIX IT.
Instead rolling back the games (which they know does fix the glitch) they are now enforcing the rule that if anyone is hit by this bug they simply have to deal with on their own and wait until they fix it on the backend..........which they have been working on for at least 5 months so far!!!! He confirmed they do not have any ETA on a fix.
Official EA Response after 7 days and over 15 requests to roll back my game: I understand that previously the roll back option worked but many people are facing the same issue and we are trying to come up with a patch to get it fixed so it is requested please wait for sometime and it will be fixed. Thanks for your understanding.

I cannot get the free 5 free donuts a day as my Rail Yard is broken. So far I have missed out on 60 free donuts and counting 5 more missed donuts a day until fixed.... THIS HURTS!!!!!! And should not be a price paid by a premium player when there is a known fix available
I cannot jump to a character and have to manually search my whole town or look them up individually via town hall because character button in top left corner is broken. This adds hours (when it used to take minutes) to the game very quickly.
Have to do 5 extra taps for every 1 tap I used to be able to do because the IRS tap radius is not reset back to level 1.....that adds up to hundreds of extra taps really quickly

Cannot Play the Claw Game
Cannot do anything with SH, unless I want to go through and unlock every character again
Cannot finish Monty Mountain of Gold as that was reset to level 1

Speaking only for myself, if I was told that I was going to have to sit on my hands waiting patiently for a patch that might or might not materialize, I’d quit the game. Or perhaps complain even more vociferously.
Five or more months for a patch? Either they’re not working on it very hard or the problem is so complex as to be resistant to a ready solution. Neither case bodes well for the imminent release of a patch.
It also seems on the verge of potential questionable legal accountability when players can verify they have paid maybe hundreds of dollars over 4 years into the game.....and when there is a glitch of this impact on the individual player.....and they refuse to process a known workable solution that would resolve it for the player.....but instead have the player pay the price in missing real money currency in missed donuts and moving the game to almost reasonably unplayable by saying for 5 months just keep on waiting with no ETA or confirmation of any progress on a 5 month (and counting) "promise" of a patch that at some unconfirmed time (weeks? / months? / years?) at some point in the future which will fix every broken item.
Good to hear from you guys that EA has said they are maybe doing something someday. They haven't said a word to me for the last 6 weeks. That's a month and a half. Nice to be in the dark, when the game is virtually unplayable. At least my withdrawal symptoms are gone, and I probably could just forget TSTO and quit playing this altogether. But I don't want to quit.
Today I tried to play a bit, and collected my KEM-farm (some 30 donuts or so). After a lunch I opened up the game again, and all of those donuts were gone. I played some more, just to get another three donuts, and restarted game. They were gone. Then I remembered that this happened over a month ago also, so it might have something to do with this bug we're dealing with. So not only this game is almost unplayable, it also robs my donuts.
Only thing comforting is that I'm not in this alone. Sorry if that sounds selfish.
When do you guys think it would be reasonable to ask for my money back, since this product is clearly broken, and seller doesn't even answer to help desk tickets?
And has anyone else (who is suffering this bug) lost any (or all) donuts?
I just hope that this thing isn't caused by something they are doing to try to stop KEM-farming.
I would not hold my breath for a general fix. It may come one day long in the future, but I feel these are individual town problems and they need to fix them.
I would suggest you contact them every day until they fix it. Ask to be transferred to someone who can fix it. Tell them you are not waiting 5 more months for a fix.
If they keep blowing you off , threaten to get your money back by going to your app store and even do that if you want. Threaten to file a complaint with the Better Business bureau.
This issue is ridiculous and needs to be fixed.
Just called, asked for a specialist, the specialist told me to CLEAR MY CACHE and that my RAM is messed up. I told him it's not there device, it's a known issue, and he hung up on me because I used the F word. I am so angry.
