More EA problem

http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2013/03/13/simcity-pr-nightmare-escalates/?intcmp=HPBucket

I think the problems from EA aren't centralized in just this game. So don't really expect any real fixes if the can't even got a larger game to work.

LOL Hey TSTO characters have been doing that for months! Moonwalking, walking through buildings, having complete disregard for roads. Of course it's on a smaller scale but it seems like EA has a massive issue getting characters to behave the way they should on paths.

Interesting read, thank you for sharing it.

These 2 phrases from that article definitely apply to TSTO:

    "lame pathfinding algorithms"

    "clearly inadequate pathfinding algorithms."

Nor are parallels confined to inadequate path finding algorithms. EA seems inexplicably wedded to the idea that their games should only function when an Internet connection is present, which leads to the predictable problem of server capacity.

Do you think EA support teams (general user support not people who are actually fixing things) are dedicated to one game or do you think that now that this Sim City debacle has unfolded that support for TSTO will get even worse?

    Holy Jeebus.

If they hadn't specified Sim City, I would have sworn they were talking about TSTO.

That's why this is a fremium. We are a beta for Sim City.

Inability to estimate predictable server load

Generally a Tier 1 support team will support all of the products. Most companies don't want to spend the money required to have dedicated call center support staff for each different product.

    Well this is interesting.....
After SimCity‘s always-online DRM screw-up, frustration sets in as players not being able to play the game begin to start asking for refunds, Maxis has issued and internal memo from general manager Lucy Bradshaw detailing the sorry state of the game and that Maxis is working hard to get SimCity fully operational and address player connectivity issues that resulted from the totally unnecessary always-online requirement of the game.

A game requiring an internet connection in order to play single player is simply stupid. Let’s just add this to the long line of EA screwups.- from an anonymous online comment

None of their games should be online only. We should not have to rely on their unreliable servers. All of their games have issues lately and they all seem similar in nature.
