EA's CEO, John Riccitiello was reportedly mortified at all the TO forum complaints and angry threads from basement-dwelling, Big Gulp-gulping Tapped-Out-icans. Reports say he stunned the board by only uttering one word before formally resigning.... "Harpies..."

Talk about leave all the rubbish for the next person to deal with  As if he didnt know what was going on lol

That's what it sounded like to me. People paid for that game and it had a gazillion problems out of the gate. Even worse, sounds like they'd been through all of the server and Origin junk before when TSTO (which is now seen as a plus for EA) was launched. Big, embarrassing problem following a crappy history as CEO...not surprising that he's gone.

ETA: I'm guessing this is all discussed to death in that linked thread, and by people who follow these things more closely than I.
