Why is it that everytime you guys do an update,something goes wrong? You dont know how to check thing before sending out updates? I have spent a lot of money on this game and I want everything back to the way it was.
A second on towns coming back after a restart. My first town reset to level one through a synching error, then, when I chose the option to play anyway, it restarted at the cut scene where Homer blows up the plant. I did the same as Melody, turning it off before it could save over the existing town. I wasn't as lucky as she was with the town coming back immediately after, though - two months of sitting in tech support later, I got it back (with an email saying that it had been accessible all along if only I had chosen the option to play...sure).
So apparently this can happen. I totally agree that not playing over your town is a very very good idea.
Also, I was told by tech support that towns are almost never actually lost. Hopefully that's actually true and can be applied to these towns. They still exist somewhere, since neighbors can see them.
Crumbs - I had no idea about this...! Been merrily logging in and out of both my towns hourly all day, and all yesterday evening. Noticed the jumbled friends list but... blimey. Right. So - do we think EA will have stopped new incidences of the glitch happening?

Not sure, but I hope I can find some commonalities of users who have experienced this so no one else has to.
So I kinda have this very problem. I have two accounts. One has the mixed up friends list and is still playable ( my main account level 27 with all premium items) my other one is level 15 or 16, no premium items and I am receiving the message about a level 8 Springfield on my device. I have answered no to every question it gives me and have not been able to get in to the game. I have looked through my friends list on my main account and it still shows my other one as a level 15/16 , so there is still hope for those who think their Springfield is gone. As long as you did not tap to start anew vile and did not gain access to your springfield, it should still be there. In my house my self, my wife and my son have the mixed up friends but can still play. My other account and my daughters are asking about the level 8. But we have never gone in. I did tap to view the level 8 for both accounts and the Springfield's look identical and then returned to the main page and hit cancel. I hope this is resolved soon.
Best advice I can give is to just answer no / cancel if you get the message about a different level Springfield and leave the game until it is fixed.

Damn, this is gonna be like russian roulette tomorrow. A chance of having fun with the whacking day update can easily go the other way around, and completely ruin your whole town, just by login in.

Issue: After login, the user is alerted to multiple Springfields being logged in. Once the user gets in, their town is at a random level from a previously saved state.

Very upset as money has been spent on multiple accounts for all in this household.
Sooooo many people playing and paying and , technically speaking , you would think EA/Origin would have enough resources, i.e. servers/hardware to handle the HUGE following this game currently has, to prevent this from occurring (MULTIPLE TIMES).
I understand a game has 'bugs' but everytime there is an issue with this game, it is EXTREME.

I hope this gets resolved quickly. I had every time limited item and all the time limited premium characters. I was sitting at 2.3 million and had 99 donuts.
