I will not have my creativity capped. I'm a silly principle driven fool. Lol I almost quit during the Xmas update when I had to store some fences and hedges to maintain stability.
Put away near 50% of my town? No just no.
I see 3D, large amounts of art....above and beyond what is likely the "average city".
It sucks, but at the same time...if the trade off is a reduction in server issues and overall better stability I'm pretty sure that's more important to the general user base.
This logic reflects the current path and thinking of the US Government. Those with "above and beyond the average" amount are hurting others so take it away from them to free up resources for others. Or EA could, you know, revamp their code and add more servers to provide the necessary resources to PAYING customers instead of taking away something they had already given us.
This game, from the very beginning, has displayed all of the hallmarks of poor software design, coding, capacity planning, and operational management. Perhaps they were thinking its only a mobile game and didn't realize just how successful it would be. Perhaps they are the victim of their own success. Or perhaps they're incompetent. One things for sure, they're greedy and unwilling to commit necessary resources to resolve their issues. Instead of using some of the money WE pay to address their issues, they TAKE AWAY from us (their former loyal customers).
Keys town is fantastic. The creativity is impressive to say the least. I have all the land, have about five squares completely unused, and I still had 3,400 items. And I don't do 3d or artwork. A 3k limit in a town with all the land just isn't enough.
So now there is a max item count of 3000 building and decorations. Since I have sunk a lot of money into this game since day 1 I have acquired some 4500+ items. Now I am expected to delete 1500 items just to add new stuff. I'm assuming this will take me about 10 or so hours straight to do, and this game is a play for 5 minutes then set down game. So I'm looking at some time in May to be able to add items to my Springfield. Thus missing out on Limited Time offers. Seriously EA? How about at least giving the old school players more room than 3000. This company loves to alienate their small in number (and decreasing) loyal customers just for a few bucks from the newcomers... Is there any EA employee who is surprised when they receive a worst company of the year review?
I know this is probably a stupid question, but after reading 5 pages of posts about a limit on decorations (and agreeing with everyone by the way) how do you know if you are over your limit? Do I have to wait for Homer &Lisa to finish their tasks before I find out?
I'm so saddened that all those beautiful, imaginative, inspiring towns will all have to be changed.
This is what I'm wondering as well? I haven't gotten the overload alert, but I would be shocked if my town didn't have at least 3,000 items.
Could we go on strike? Maybe not

I also would like to know, my town is max size, I have. 3 by 6 hedge maze ad a forest I'm sure I'm over but I attempted adding a tree and it didn't say anything. What caused your warning to come up?
Also, we brought this on ourselves. Everyone wanted stability and here is the fix. I never complained about my lag and crashes only voiced a concern that my town would completely freeze I'd the snow returns next Christmas as that is what happened last Christmas, and I'd already decided I'd dismantle in October to keep myself safe. I wish it was a warning "exceeding 3000 buildings and decorations can lead to instability, you are currently at xxxx" and then we could decide how much we care about beauty over stability. Maybe it effects other people's towns? Is that a possibility?
Lastly, this won't effect house farmers nearly to the degree of others, you can only fit about 8 blue houses in a square, and far, far more decorations so I don't really think the farmers are to blame. If someone's 13*13 is all blue houses with 8 in each block they'd only be at 2,028 with room to spare.
THIS SUCKS! They are totally cramping the creative possibilities of this game. Guarantee they will lose valuable players that spend actual cash on this limitation.

Did you just compare a Freemium iPad game to running a national government?
Wow. And I thought this place couldn't get any more absurd in its overreactions.
I'm not sure if I've managed to dodge this but looking at some people's springfields that are over limit then I estimate to have around 5000 items.... I have all land and all buildings, 3 huge forest areas, massive 3D hill and sky scraper, all house have fences gardens etc...
I understand the stability issue, but 3000 is too low. I am under that (though no idea by how much), but am still missing almost 30 land plots, why buy land if I have no idea if I can fill it?
I have a little bit of 3d and some forests and parks, but that may get me close for all I know
It seems most of my friends (>30 at least) with my favorite towns (none of which seem crazily over decorated, just nice landscaping and most land) are between 3000 and 5000. So at least 4000 or maybe 5000 would have been more reasonable I think. I haven't had much crashing issues lately anyway.
6283 items. That's right. I have 6283 items. I was on top of the world earlier. The update came early. Made several hundred bonus donuts. Play everyday. Several times a day. I love this game. My absolute favorite game. And this huge blockbuster update was finally here. A day early too. It really felt like Christmas for me. I was that excited. Went from absolute joy to hopeless despair in an instant. Heaven to Hell. EA really earned that worst company of the year award today. What they did today took a lot of hard work and nerves of steel. Takes a lot of balls for a company to just come out and basically tell the hardcore players to go eff themselves. I mean, it's as evil as hell, but bravo for the execution of their plan. The more you cared, the more you played. The more you played, the more stuff you bought. I took a lot of pride in what my town looked like. No house farms. Nothing jam packed. Endless tinkering with it. It had to run like I thought a real town would. And what does EA think of someone like me? Someone who has played daily since last August? Someone who loved their product? They just told me I can go eff myself. On Christmas day.
Except you have all of those extra donuts out of it. Meaning as you rebuild your town to get under the limit you'll make room for things you can now buy with your donuts.
