With every game I play, there's always those people with the entitlement mentality and think everything should be free. I guess a lot of people don't know basic economics: a company's product has to generate revenue to continue making the product.

Yes, but basic economics (supply/demand etc), suggests that if something is cheaper more people will buy it... Doughnuts are overpriced. If they were cheaper, more people would buy them, and hence, more profit...
Maybe they should spend some of our money on decent servers.I have spent loads on this game and now I cannot access my town for more than 20 seconds before it freezes. Not happy!

    Bump for truth.

I think the value of the donuts could be re-thought somewhat as some things seem out of whack, but the general philosophy you outline is correct and it works. It's perfectly possible to play this game endlessly, have loads of fun and build a great town without spending a penny or seeing any ads. I personally think they'd sell more donuts if they made them a little cheaper or re-worked their value in the game r.e. certain items, but as it is it works pretty well. At least they make the game of such a high quality that it's actually worth considering giving them your money.

There are two things that I'd like them to concentrate on: number one is stability and reliability of the game. Not just crashing and speed (which is just a minor annoyance), but the danger of losing one's town entirely, which should never be a factor. It's not happened to me, but I'd be devastated if it did. They really should implement a backup system to prevent this ever happening.

The second is just to keep releasing updates, more content, more characters, buildings and items, more seasonal specials that sort of thing. I'm sure they will, there's plenty of room for improvement across the board. I'd like them to develop the social side of it a little more too; it would be nice to be able to 'vote up' or 'like' other people's towns for instance or leave them notes or messages or have a more detailed notifications centre.

playing since 2012 and your best mystery box is the lemon tree?!!?!? the lemon tree must be worth more than 30 donuts. ive been playing for a month and hit the 30 donuts. I think I got 10 once too or something.

I've gotten 30 donuts and 10 donuts on occasion here and there. But the Lemon Tree is still the best seeing as it's an exclusive item only obtainable through the mystery box

I hate that Manjula is the premium and Sanjay is the freebie. It should be the other way around.

There's plenty of characters that we have gotten for free

    1. Fat Tony - when he was re-released they could have made him premium. But they didn't.
    2. Legs & Louie - they could have made one free, one premium. But we got both of them free. same with Patty & Selma, Lou & Eddie, Rod & Todd, Carl & Lenny and so forth.

Yes, but as soon as we collect E.A.R.L. by visiting friends, we can get 'round to scooping up free donuts!

Personally I find Sanjay way more interesting, because we don't really know much about him. He can be more creatively written than Manjula, which is why he is probably the free character. The premium characters are usually just a side story. It is kind of unfortunate that even though we are starting to get more women, they much more often than not, are premium characters. Maybe not Patty and Selma, but wives in general are typically the premiums.

True although I can see other women being released down the line as free.

    Miss Hoover
    Helen Lovejoy
    Martha Quimby
    Bernice Hibbert
    Jacqueline Bouvier

Now I can see these women being added as premium

    Belle
    Sherri Bobbins
    Titania
    Princess Kashmir
    Lurleen Lumpkin

I think Sanjay is one cool dude.

I understand why Manjula was made a premium character - she is a better known character and more people want her (and will pay to get her). Most people wouldn't pony up to have Sanjay.

    Great list, btw!

Today was my 5th day in a row logging in, so I received a Mystery Box. I was incredibly overjoyed to find a Homer Buddha inside that Mystery Box. I was then astonished by my fortune when I found another Mystery Box inside that Homer Buddha. To my surprise, inside the 2nd Mystery Box was a Tree. This seems to be the extent of my luck in most cases. It's amazing how things line up to not actually pan out at all. Don't consider this a complaint, it's merely an attempt to share my experience with others who may or may not understand the irony, if only for a hint of a smirk.
