Can Android players add friends?

If they just sign up for an Origin account, will there be any issues continuing their game and adding friends??

First your friend needs to update their game to the whacking day patch and then make an origin account. Once they do that you should be able to add them with no problems.

Thanks. Can they add the account through the game itself? Do android players have that little orange icon thing on the bottom right like iOs does?

I'm an android user so when i updated my app to whacking day, it automatically prompted me to create an origin account when i launched it and it linked my current town with the account. I don't have an apple product but i am guessing you are referring to the orange circle thing in the bottom left corner?
