Starting Squidport

Hi, I was wondering if someone could tell me how to start the Squidport quest. I'm currently on level 26 and thought it was supposed to start at level 15. Thank you in advance for your assistance. I love this game, it's so much fun!

Welcome to the forum! You have to be a minimum level of 15 to start Squidport, but generally there are pre-set quests for levels before you can start the next build. There is a lot of information, including a building list (contained in a spoiler near the top) in the following thread:

Occasionally, events may interfere with the usual triggering of quest lines too. Have you bought any land towards the ocean?

According to what I can find you must first buy a Beach and Water expansion. Not helpful, but it's what I found.
Are you finishing your quests? You can only put stuff off for so long before you get stuck. (Speaking of which: Don't try to avoid doing Krustyland when you get to it. You GOTTA do it to progress.)
Do you have the Sea Captain with his Houseboat yet? I can't remember which comes first, Squidport or Sea Captain. I only vaguely remember the quest coming up and I've done it 3 times.
  • Once you buy your first beach and water tiles (with regular currency) you should be prompted to place the Sea Captain and his Houseboat. Then the prompt to place the Squidport Entrance should appear.
  • Realistically isnt closer to lvl 20 before you get the squidport update. Need to also make sure you have bought the right land.
  • Thank you everyone for your help! I really appreciate it.

I have quite a bit of land along the ocean, but have only purchased one parcel of water, and I don't remember if I used regular currency for that or not. I will try buying another parcel of water (the center one this time) with regular currency to see if that helps.

I haven't seen the Sea Captain or his Houseboat yet.

Your suggestions will probably do the trick.

    Thanks again!

  • For those with a done up Squidport do you use the Boardwalk fences all the way around?
I know there is a bug that all items on the squidport and beach count as double so i imagine 100+ fences quickly chews up your decoration count

    Welcome!

Treehouse of Horror and Winter are usually a lot of fun.

Your town looks great! You're so organized.

    @chiefdeville

I used to have fences but I stored them when I was moving things around and I don't miss them.

There's a free water square (the one by the mountains) that won't count towards this quest, and any Springfield Heights water squares (paid for with SH currency) also won't work. I've no idea what effect using a free land token has on the quest. If you purchase a water tile and are still missing the prompt to place the Sea Captain, I'd check the store anyway to see if he's unlocked. If not, there should be a notice of which level/questline needs to be completed to unlock him.
  • Well I purchased a parcel of water using currency but that didn't seem to help. I checked the store and the Sea Captain is still locked. Apparently to unlock him I need to start the "Old Man and the Sea Quest Part 1."

After doing a little research it seems that sometimes the quest won't start for players until they've built the Squidport entrance and the 4 tiles. Apparently I need Moe and his Tavern to do this, which I have. Where do I find the Squidport Entrance and tiles?

    I can't figure this out.

    Homer starts the Squidport quest.
You need to be at game level 15, not only XP level 15. This means you need Moe's tavern and the questline completed.
Squidport Pt1 is to have a beach expansion and a water expansion.
Pt2 is to place the entrance
Pt3 is to place boardwalk sections
Pt4 is make Homer swear at the ocean for 12h
Then you can place the Sea Captain's housboat.
  • This is copied from TSTOaddicts about triggering Squidport:
Note: If you are just starting out in the game, the Squidport build kicks off at game level 15 (not XP level 15), once you’ve completed all the tasks that follow the Moe’s Tavern build. By the time you get to building Springfield Downs, you should be able to get underway.
Have you built Springfield Downs yet? One other tip - when you do place the Squidport entrance and start making tiles, make 4 and then place them all together. Sometimes there are problems if you place each one as soon as they are made.

  • Thanks again for your help everyone!

Springfield Downs is still locked, so maybe I'm not at Level 15 yet? In the bottom left corner it says Level 28, but maybe that's XP level and not game level. Is there a way to see what game level I'm on?

I have Moe's Tavern. How can I tell if the quest line for that is complete?

I apologize for all the questions.

  • Thank you Muhsterino. I found your thread to be very helpful and have learned a lot about how to play the game from it!

The strange thing is that I have unlocked the Krustyland Shuttle which is a Level 25 item, but the Squidport Entrance which is a Level 15 item is still locked. It's confusing. Maybe if I just keep playing it will unlock eventually. Not sure what else to do.
  • I remember back when I first started it. Then I got paranoid about the item cap limit and stored most of my squidport boardwalk tiles because I think they add to the item cap. And even if they didn't adding stuff to the ocean/boardwalk takes up too much of my item cap. Which means I can't design the rest of my town. So I basically gave up decorating/designing the Ocean part of my town....except for the Casino I put on there. I will always keep that there.
    ~Always be Designing~
Don't increase the Item Limit? Then I don't play. Period.
  • It may be that the current event is interfering with normal quest lines. Moe's is available to build at level 5 during the current event (usually level 15). This is info I found on other sites:
    Main Quests:
    1. Homer prompts the building of Moe's. (Is There an Al-Coholic Here? Pt. 1)
    Side Quests:
    1. Homer drink at Moe's (8 hour) (Is There an Al-Coholic Here? Pt. 2)
Complete Marge go to Kwik-E Mart (1 hour) (Once You've Gone Organic) to start Jake's Unisex Hair Palace.
In theory, Squidport quest line should start after completing the above.

Thanks again Muhsterino. I'll just keep going and see if the current event is interfering with the normal quest lines. And I'll check to see that I've completed the tasks you listed. The game is an absolute blast to play.

Thanks also to everyone else who replied to help me.
