This works perfectly, thanks for posting.

A note: you can still let loose snakes by returning to a already visited town, but you can still find and click them for recovery.

THis works as good as any, however, I just lost 210 snakes on 2 visits to a"friend". Managed to get maybe 80-85 back. If you enter a town and screen flickers. you're screwed. I'm not sure there is a foolproof method at this point.

Sorry but this isn't accurate. I have visited a friend's town and upon entering, I mean immediately upon entering, there were already 70+ snakes on the ground running around and my snake counter was decremented.

See my detailed post on the matter.

The reason they do the whole license bit is to make sure you know your limit. If you whack more than what your license allows plus whatever number has been released from your total (if any) you actually lose snakes by whacking. You sound like you are over whacking.

Usually when the snakes are released, you can get them back in addition to your allotted amount. It has nothing to do with over whacking.

I just visited a friend's town (thomasDSwan). When I went in I had over 520 snakes, the screen flickered and I immediately lost 105 snakes! I diligently hunted all snakes down and got about 40-45 back. As I was looking around for more snakes (there were no more), the game crashed (as usual). So, stupidly I went back trying to recover my snakes...you guessed it, same flicker and same 105 snake loss. I eventually ended up leaving with 388 snakes.

Whether this is a glitch or hacking, I don't know. But I'm pissed. I had just spent the doughnuts for the upgraded license a short while earlier. This takes way too much time to be getting screwed out of snakes.

No, this is not true. If you are in another town and see a snake, you whack it. You will only ever see 5 or 10 snakes in another town, depending on which license you have, PLUS whatever snakes randomly got free, if any (usually 5). You cannot over-whack.

If more than 5 are escaping in one town, the current thought is there is a bug there. Hopefully you can find them all in that town, but some people say they haven't. I would avoid those towns. First thing you should do before going to a town is check your count, then check your count when you get in (click snake-whack button). If it's less, you should make sure to look for them. But you can take any snake you see.

The sound only means there are snakes to whack, not the your snakes escaped. (I'm trying to rephrase everything to say "escaped" instead of "lost", as for normal play, you won't lose anything unless you don't retrieve them.)
