Exactly. Select everything, click "sell" button, and all the unsellable items stay in place. I have a 5x11 grid meaning I only have to use the drag select tool twice to sell all of it. I find it neat to have exact slots for each KEM for fastest placement, plus it's a good way to use all those billboards we all have lying around.
This year we planted some wheat, corn, KEMs, blue houses, Lard Lads...
How the heck are you going to sell the kems with all those billboards around?
Don't forget about the drag tool plus you can't sell those billboards.
Yep. I use the fences I get from the Eliminator the same way he uses those billboards. That's actually a good use for those billboards though. I may consider doing the same.
I have mine along the northern border, I know about those systems but somehow it always got messed up, before I made the slots (they kept jumping further south towards the center of the screen). Anyway, there's another aspect to it: I've already spent so many donuts on MB's that I kind of want my many billboards and news vans to be visible as a sort of a trophy, instead of hiding them around.
Ive been using bonsai trees as dividers for years. I have 2 separate plots, each can hold up to 100 KEMS, though I usually only use 1 due to budget constraints. I've been meaning to re configure my town to put them both together, but never have had the ambition, or the need since I dont use the second one very much.

I do not accept unsolicited friend requests! PM me and say hi first.
My secret little farm is about ~11 x 20 plots of land, +/- a plot (soon to be replaced with white houses, at which point will never play Maggie again). If you are constantly on or just willing to work for it, kems beat any house farm. The potential of kem collecting vs houses is unbelievable. Shh. Its a secret you don't see mentioned much.

Dare you to nuke for space.
If you nuke, you do get a lot of free space.
You do not need the walls in your Kem farm alignment. They all line up with that northern boundary. Try it.
Which way is north again?
I use a southern border, the ocean in this case, and start at the bottem corner and build up an left.
