I've decided to give in and buy the motel with donuts but hanging on as long as I can bear it too spend the least donuts possible.

No, time zone doesn't matter. At some point, there'll just be a pushed update that cuts it off.

IIRC, the Christmas coins ended around 5pm EST on the cut off day.

EA has never ended an event/added an update for TSTO at midnight in any time zone- except by possible coincidence (including theirs). It has a tendency to happen mid-afternoon on the stated end date (in the US- early to mid for me on the Eastern Time Zone).

To be safe, finish up the day before, or at the very latest the morning of the 9th. You have no idea how many people complain because they assumed the event would end at midnight of whatever time zone they were in and waited until evening of the end date to try and finish things.
