Possible solutions for re-downloading (APPLE devices) + troubleshooting tips

There have been a large number of threads about the issue of the game re-downloading, especially since iOS11 was released. Tapped Out requires a lot of free space to run the game, here are a few possible solutions to avoid having the game re-download every time you play. All screenshots below are from my iPad.
FREE UP SPACE by deleting unused apps, unwanted photos, videos etc.
DISABLE THE OFFLOAD FEATURE when storage is low, the Offload feature removes apps, but keeps their documents and data on your device, but then it needs to be reinstalled every time. You can also choose to offload individual apps.
Go into settings, scroll down to General and look for ipad storage on the right side.

Tap on iPad storage - I have disabled offload apps.

If you scroll further down, you can choose which apps to individually offload. Here is tapped out as an example:


CLEAR HISTORY & WEBSITE DATA REGULARLY I do this about once a week. Go to settings> tap on Safari

Scroll down on the right side, then you can clear History and website data.

ALWAYS USE THE APP ICON to play tapped out, rather than via notifications. A small number of players have stated the game re-downloads if they go into the game via notifications.
CLOSE ALL OTHER APPS BEFORE PLAYING
UNINSTALL & REINSTALL - only do this if you have an EA ACCOUNT AND LOG INTO YOUR GAME. It is possible there may be a corrupt file. DO NOT tap to play whilst the game is downloading.
When logging into your town, warning messages appear:

Click 'Play now'

Click 'Continue'
Note: It is a good idea to always synchronise (by going to friends screen and back to your town) after every time you play, so that progress is saved.

....Also ensure you have plenty of free storage. Even with offloading disabled, I had this issue with an iPad Mini with 3GB free storage. Now with free memory around 5GB the problem disappeared for me..... posted on Reddit October 2017.
General troubleshooting tips:
- Update your device software
- Check for any Tapped Out update in store
- Log out/Log back in
- Restart device
- Clear cache
- Free up space (some Apple devices may require 4-5GB free space)
- Hard close the game and restart
- Load on another device
- Try a different wifi/connection/internet/broadband
- Accept or decline any pending friend requests
- Change your password ( only use letters and numbers, no symbols )
- If connected to EA/Origin: uninstall / reinstall game (Do NOT do this if you play anonymously)

There are a few ways to try and fix this issue - several players have reported that the following has worked for this situation:
- Wait for a period of time and then try again
- Change your password only use letters and numbers, no symbols
- If connected to EA/Origin: uninstall / reinstall game (Do NOT do this if you play anonymously)
Also make sure you input your age correctly. This error may also occur if you input an age lower than the minimum for playing Tapped Out. (Age requirement may vary from one country to another). Later the same day (edited):How much free space do you have?
I even went as far as reformatting my device and only trying to have Simpsons Tapped Out on it and still it will not work. I have been playing for 4+ years, spent hundreds of dollars and it not only won't let me do the redownload which it was for weeks, but now says I don't have enough room on my phone at all.
This is just ridiculous.
This issue has been around for a long time. I doubt it related to anything specific to 11.4.
This is so dumb! TSTO is the ONLY app on my phone behaving like that: who thought it was a good idea to design it that way?? It takes ages every day to re-download everything even though I have a super fast connexion. Downloading again as I'm writing this.
