Makes me go hmmmmmm

Its just another one of those things that make me scratch my head the same way I cant figure out why all buildings are worth the same amount of money when visiting a friend. Gives no incentive for tapping a blue or orange house when u can easily just tap a brown house. And yeah it helps ur friend to tap a higher earning building to jump start their clock for em but come on lets be serious many of us arent looking to help our friends here when we are clearly competing against one another most of the time.

The thing about games like these is everyone is on the same playing level, just along a different timeline. The game is linear. That means there's no real competition. It's just arranging and buying what you like. I always look for treats at this point during Halloween in friends towns, then it's either white or blue houses on down. Everyone in the end has the same set of tasks to finish each level.

Ehhh kinda but not really. Heres why......some people can buy premuim items...some people dedicate more time to the game and some people just are better at designing. Its fun and social and everything but at the same time its a competition to see who can get things quicker, who can get more stuff and who's town can look the best.

Another gripe.........how is it that Grampa's task of walking around like its 1953 doesnt entail him actually walking around. Yet another thing that has me asking myself huh?!?!?!

I see your point. But when I see a level 7 person with every premium item crammed into their town, I know some parent just loaded $100 in donuts for their kid to keep quiet for 5 minutes. I have a friend town that did just that and hasn't changed on bit since placing Duffs, Springfield Sign, Finks and every other item. IMO that's just lame. At least play the game some. I'm perfectly happy with the game items. I haven't spent $1 yet on premiums. And on the topic of premiums, it is way to easy to use donuts accidentally in the game. Purchases should be followed by a Do You Want To Purchase This Item button, not simply automatic. I was looking through the Halloween items and went to click info on one and the touch sensor thought I hit buy and it was automatically bought. 30 Donuts for the Raven that does NOTHING but walk around and fly if tapped.

Wow. Competing? Really? And how do you quantify a win? You just sound like a d****e.

Is this how other people view the game as well? I'm not saying that you're wrong to perceive TSTO in this light, storyrob, but my approach to it is almost diametrically opposed to yours. I enjoy looking at how other people have designed their own Springfields, but I feel zero sense of competition with those people. (I will admit to having stolen a few ideas from towns I particularly admired, but that's about as competitive as I've gotten.) Ditto for acquiring items more quickly than other gamers. For me the game is about the process, not any particular goal. That's why I don't quite understand people who want to hack the game in order to obtain unlimited money -- once you've acquired all of the buildings and land, the fun's over, folks.

I agree with this. I get a sense of achievement when I obtain the necessary buildings and level up. Recently I purchased the Muntz house costing $92,500. Yes it took about two to three days to save up and then wait for 24 hours for it to build, but it was satisfying when completed.
