I can't get the hospital to start either . All docs task are done twice and everyone's had a checkup. One of the guides says Kent gets a checkup but he doesn't have one listed.
I don't know what level you are / which stage of the walkthrough you're at now, but it seems that many people are experiencing problems with it (tasks not coming up, etc). the best solution is to have your characters do tasks of the same duration so they all finish at the same time and then the next tasks are certainly gonna come up.
for me I got through the first step in the walkthrough but then it took me a few days to get the next tasks to come up in my Springfield. and now I've got the task where I'm asked to build the General Hospital, so it should be all good.
I had this problem. The game was prompting me to build levels which surpassed the hospital, so I was pretty worried that I wouldn't get to build it.
What you need to do is store the character that prompts the building quest, which I think is Hibbert. Or if you are still a couple of tasks behind building the hospital like I was, use the Walkthrough FAQ to find out where you are at in the quest and store the character associated with that task for a couple of minutes. Upon bringing them out of storage, this should kick start the task/quest.
I am having the same problem. I completed everyones check-ups and it never prompted me to do anything else. I am already building the Burns Manor. I folowed the walkthrough and it seems to have just stopped halfway through.
Usually the problem is to do with the quest line of the Hibbert family practice to build the hospital.
What catches a person out is when they have more than one Krusty burger and the original is either stored or been sold.
Each Krusty burger is the same except the original is cheaper than the extra.
Problem?......
If the original Krusty burger is stored or sold, this effectively stops the Hibbert family practice story line as Krusty is part of the quest line.
To give the quest line a kick then bring back into your Springfield the original Krusty burger.
If you sold the original Krusty burger by mistake then it's going to be expensive for you. You will need to sell all the Krusty burgers you have remaining in Springfield including any you have stored in order for the purchase of the original to appear again, however the original Krusty burger is a lot cheaper than the $24,000 counterparts.

I was also curious about the General Hospital, and found a walkthrough:
