For those of you who got it a second time, did you clear your cache and reinstall the game before restarting? That would get rid of any corrupt code that may be on your device.
The bug appears as well if you install the game on another device and log into your account. The save is clearly affected/corrupted. Worse still, I got a rollback after a week-long wait but got the glitch back after less than 2 days, probably at around the same time during the last event when it first appear. The rollback was therefore useless (and cost me one week) and it looks like it's bound to happen in my game no matter what. I'm not the only one to report this and a patch that corrects the saves seems to be in order.
This is becoming a huge issue, and hopefully those who have not had it pay attention. I am now 4 days I believe with nothing but wait, and EA has even told me that asking for contact will bump me back to the end of the list. While the roll backs were working, they seem to believe they were not. They also seem confused about this issue and the newer freeze issue since the update. I am suspicious that a fix may not come. Each day that goes on they back up our broken towns again, and eventually the clean backups will be gone.

..there better be a "gift"from EA after this is over. For everyone.
Everyone? Highly unlikely.
OH trust me...I am not holding my breath...one can really only expect such a thing from an outfit with GOOD customer service. Which sadly is a rare thing at EA.
My husband just got hit with this glitch. I wonder.... maybe it's one of EA's servers. If their server got hit with a virus, that could corrupt a large number of towns.
I just spoke to EA again. I got an absolutely fantastic person. She indicated that I should not have been sent to studio but just rolled back. They did a rollback, which put me pre event. I had bought 550 donuts worth of premium items. She had that added back into my account, and I am ready to START the event all over.
She seemed genuinely surprised that I was not rolled back the first call, as that is the only solution to this issue. So if you have been told to wait until studio checks, keep trying. Make sure the advisor knows that you are not calling about the freeze issue with this event and free land, some of them get confused between the two. So here comes a massive grind to finish Act 1 on time...

glad you finally were able to get it fixed! maybe word is finally going around EA help that the forum cannot fix this issue

This is one of their lines to get you to stop bothering them, similar to when they dump you here and sell you some crap about the developers looking for problems here. If that was true, why would they need the help people in the first place? Why spend the money on help when they can come here and get the problems for free?
I do not accept unsolicited friend requests! PM me and say hi first.
My husband is getting the runaround from some bozo again at EA. Same response - "We can't roll back the game, studio will not allow it" - he cited both the response that Willie received as well as the service I received from Brian less than two weeks ago, but the employee was unmoved.
My husband was told not to play the game from the first person with whom he spoke. This guy tells him to go ahead and play...does anyone at EA know what the hell is up? seems like only a scant handful, if that.

It’s hard to escape the conclusion that many of the lower-echelon help staff are poorly trained. All too often users know far more regarding the particulars of a given game bug than do the staff members. I would imagine that the turnover rate for help staffers is quite high, exacerbating the problem.
I think that... I've been hit by the rollback glitch again. Which is funny as the previous one is still ongoing. Same "bonus of the day", same "this event is finished". Well... at least it doesn't change anything more.
There's something wrong with my current game (third rollback glitch in less than a month, and I almost stopped playing for a whole week waiting for the first game to be rolled back, which means that I may have missed another one, who knows).
No rollback is going to restore durably my game...
Are any of you playing thought the event while the glitch is going on? I'm also waiting for EA "specialists" to respond to me and it's been about 6 days. I've made so much progress and earned so many donuts during this time.

@Reckless_Rod Make sure you keep screenshots of your progress, buildings you have bought and donuts/cash You will have to convince them to add this to your town after the rollback as it will all be gone.

@4kidsandacatdog The last person I got, the one who helped, actually plays this game and her daughters town had to be rolled back. That was the key, to me, she knew what was going on. I think many of them are confusing this with the current land freeze issue, and they just don't listen.

@daved7637397 My last person indicated that if you hit the button to resume the case, and get a call back that it does pop you out of the studio queue. She suggested that if wanting an update always start a new case to avoid this.

I got a small update 3/27 which introduced this bug. Still playing in BS3, my tab game is unusable and never completely starts, sometimes hanging the entire tablet. Ugh EA ... No server backups eh?
So do rollbacks work? Or is the update containing the glitch reapplied? It was an auto update on Android tab for me. Is this really the same bug from a year ago?!
This glitch does not come from an update, it has been documented since about last June. The rollback is the only way right now to fix the issue. If you read through my previous posts you will get much more info.
There are backups available, that's what they use to do the rollback and I am unaware of anyone the rollback didn't fix.

Either way, probably not gonna happen.
