@thom4590 I only know of the rollback fix that will nullify all your progress to the point of the rollback. It will also result in a donut harvested not tallied problem after the fix. The further the rollback, the longer you will experience this donuts not syncing properly glitch. They may also offer you a donut compensation for this rollback or you should demand for it.
I'm surprised that they expect us long-time players -- myself included (5 years) -- would think that's acceptable. 😲 I've spent several hundred dollars on this and probably closer to $1000. I'm of the mindset that they either manually fix my game using the known variables that are affected (isn't there a list??) or demand back what I've spent for not making the game playable for me while it is for so many others.
I had this happen last December. I kept holding out until a week ago and got a rollback and everything works now. I talked with an American guy and he says they will not do individual fixes (the bugged variable thing) because they simply don't want to. It's either rollback or template town. They will not restore any lost items but will give you donuts for each week for the roll back.
Isn't there anyone who has figured out a way to hack the game back to where the variables affected are back to normal? If there are people who have been able the hack donuts and in-game cash, then why not this? I've never hacked this game for cheats or anything thing else, but something like this seems like a workaround for those who know how and wish to put the time into it wjen EW won't.
Unfortunately, the glitch was probrably caused by a hacker program effecting other players variable not the user of the hack program. (The fix was most likely a database change that rejected invalid values instead of converting them to nulls or zero).
EA can afford to have a team unsucessfully search for the cause of the glitch but cant spend a couple of days to write a script to fix the variables they corrupted by the incorrect table setting.
Of course, this is all speculation on my part but within 2 weeks of publication of this observation, EA announced a fix.
Sometimes i feel like your a frustrated EA programmer who uses an anomalous name to post suggestions that hopefully EA will let you do, since they won't listen to their employees. And if that's true. Thank you for that
This is so amazing @datasurgeon! It is like a plot twist. I thought the writing style of @irishma619148 was similar to yours. Then the plot thickened when I wrongly interpreted @hatchet669 that EA changed your ID as you have divulged too much. So I kept quiet and didn't want to ask anymore.
Yeah, if someone knowledgeable could hack into the game code and fix the glitch that would be awesome.
I certainly won't accept a rollback for 6+ months. I only keep playing the game because I basically have so much money that I don't need to send anyone on tasks or collect any money, so it doesn't affect me much.
When there are events, the "find person" code within the task at hand works, so that is useful. The only time I have to look for someone "by hand" is when a store line is triggered by a different character (say, a store line had a task with Lisa, and the next part of the story starts with Homer), in which case I notice the exclamation point on the top left corner and go to City Hall to find the character. But this happens only once in a while in a few story lines, so it doesn't bother me much (except when I can't recall the name of the character and have to go trought the entire list at City Hall until I find the picture!).
Long story short, the fix is annoying but I can play the game without many constraints.
But if this had happened last year when I was trying to build my bonus percentage and was always short on cash, I would be mighty annoyed (to put it lightly)
I find these posts almost scary in the fact that multiple people have the same issue and it truly looks as though EA has decided that they can get more money by ignoring loyal customers. These are the same people who would have bought/installed new games because of the EA logo... Something that used to mean quality... 😔 I have been suffering since February 2018. No solution. First offer of a rollback was almost 5 months later.
There are many that do. Myself included. Mine hit in March 2018. So unless I want to wipe out an entire year worth of progress, items, etc., I'll be stuck with this glitch forever.
Unfortunately the only solution is a rollback which was offered with donut compensation in May 2018. Sorry you did not hear of the solution then, as it would have been a lot less to lose.

Someone on the 33 pages of the thread (don't remember who) said they got an IT rep who fixed their game via something other than a rollback, and it was a permanent fix.
So there is an alternate method that EA should have implemented by now but for some reason has not.
Also, I got no donuts with my rollback. I cry foul.

I heard about it, but I already had the glitch for a long time then, not worth the trouble. Mainly because I thought EA would not be so incompetent not to fix it for over an year!

Yes. I agree it may not be a broadly implementable solution, but the reps should have been told it was possible and where to direct players to have it fixed. Instead we get stock responses from a script, most of which don't even mention a rollback as a solution.
Support is deplorable. I don't even want to try to get anything fixed anymore and that seems to have been their aim.

I would never bought a game just because it had an EA (or any other brand) logo though.
@ardenlosha611
You (both?) still have the "rollback" glitch?

At least 3 players had their games fixed without a rollback, as noted in the 3rd post of the ‘glitch’ thread linked below. I do not think this method can be applied as a general fix for all towns, as it was done on a case-by-case basis.
