The main way they provide a fix is to 'rollback' your town using the last save prior to the time you had the glitch. Any progress will be lost, so the quicker you contact EA, the better. Uninstalling and reinstalling will NOT help with this glitch. If possible, call or use live chat rather than e-mail, as these methods are generally quicker. If you call, the Customer Service Rep may be able to do the rollback whilst you are on the phone. Sometimes Reps will offer lame excuses not to help such as the following:
  • Post your problem on the forum
  • We are no longer doing rollbacks
  • A fix will be available soon
  • We can provide you with a template town
Also some tickets are just closed without any response whatsoever. KEEP CONTACTING EA until they provide a fix.
How to ask for a rollback from a specific back-up file
I did want to share some insight I learned on how to ask for a roll back from a specific backup file . The American team can look at the backups and see some key things....
  1. They can see the level of the broken parts of the game, i.e. if you are level 20 Friend Points (FP) but the back up they are looking at level 1, then that backup has the The Glitch. But if your FP is level 20, it is a safe backup to use. Same for IRS tapping radius level, etc....
  2. They can also see premium items you owned during that backup. So if you know you bought a premium item 12 hours and 3 logins before you were hit with the glitch and they see that premium item in your backup file
You put those two items together and you can narrow down the most recent valid backup to restore (after you bought that last premium item and before the broken item levels are at 1.)
WARNING about accepting a TEMPLATE TOWN
OK, now I am done with EA! Deleting the game, never coming back.

I got a town that is about the 1/20 of my original, Springfield Heights missing, random characters that I have never seen, walking around. I have about 1/20 of the buildings I had, only a fraction of my land. My quests deleted, this event deleted, everything back to square one, and they have the nerves to say it's a level 122 town?

I'm sorry guys, I am extremely furious, not at you, just at the whole situation. I feel tricked and mistreated and cheated and abused.

NEVER ASK FOR A TEMPLATE TOWN, that is all I can say, and now I'm gonna go and cry out my frustration or punch something.

I have put money in this game and this is what I get. It's literally the size of a level 10 town, at best, Heights completely missing, my everything missing, money and donut count on the ground.

Copy and paste the following, add relevant personal information instead of the brackets, along with any other info that may help your case.
My ID is (.............) and my town is level (.......). I live in (insert country here) and I have a problem with my game. My first experience of this glitch was on (insert time and date). The last time I played and it was working properly was on (insert time and date). It is the glitch where I cannot use the character finder button top left etc. I also have many other issues associated with this glitch as documented on the EA forum. It is well known that uninstalling and reinstalling the game will NOT help with this problem.
My MAYHEM ID is (insert mayhem ID here).
PLEASE rollback my game, I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME PROGRESS WILL BE LOST.

    I have checked this case and the Expert team said that you should be all set. This issue is the result of bugged variables, and the studio team have set all of them back to the correct state.
    The Studio has also credited you with 50 donuts for the wait.

    WOW!!!!!! All I can say is WOW!!!!!

    After my game being broken for nearly 4 months. I went through over 15 EA Customer Service (CS) reps. I was denied a roll back until after completing 6 events and by the time they offered to do a roll back they said I collected too many items so they would not restore any of them (even if I paid real world money for many of those items). So my choice was continue to play a broken game or do a roll back 4 months ago and loose all of the Halloween / Thanksgiving / Black Friday / Cyber Monday / Christmas / New Years items I earned while they denied my roll back request.

    I was not going to loose all of the items I paid for with both time and real world money....so after 4 months I refused the roll back if they would not restore my items accrued while they stalled the roll back.

    But today a CS rep emailed that he fixed my game. I was worried he just rolled back my game and I lost all of my items over the last 4 months. .............. But all my items over the last 4 months were there! AND MY GAME NOW WORKS AGAIN!!!!!!

    I can now use the character button to jump to where a character is. I can now use Rail Yard and earn donuts. My IRS wide radius of clearing in a single tap works again. The mini games all work again. So I do not know what he did..........BUT there is a solution that EA has to keep all your current items and design AND Fix A Broken Game with this glitch!!!!!!!!!
    Donuts not added correctly after a rollback
    Has anyone had an issue with the monorail tasks after getting a rollback? After I finished the tasks and got the 5 donuts, my donut count was at 180. I did some friend visits, got an extra donut --which puts me at 181. Then, when I went back to my town my donuts are at 176 :( WTH!

    So... yeah the only fix I am aware of is buying a premium item (I recommend a white picket fence for the low cost), place it and go to krustyland. I had the same thing happen to me after a rollback and that was what fixed it. Otherwise, you will keep earning donuts as usual but they will never accumulate.

  • This needs to be pinned at the top of bugs and issues!

    Recent poll on addicts found this glitch is now affecting 20-25% of ALL tsto players.

    Can one of you sticky this? I think this is pretty important and should be available at the top of the bugs and issues forum - so it doesn’t drop.

    Way too many people are having problems. Having it in a place of priority is key. :)
  • Here is a summary of my 11 month ongoing issue with this glitch. As 4-18-2018, I have been hit with this glitch 12 times (2 times in the last week alone) over the last 11 months.

    I have documented exchanges with EA where they refused to conduct a roll back (here)for over 4 weeks after hit with this glitch while still encouraging me to play the game. Once they FINALLY agreed to conduct a roll back after my continual insistence they fix my game since they refused do a roll back. BUT then they refused to restore all the items they encouraged me to earn and BUY with real world money during the time they refused to conduct the roll back while still encouraging me to play....because they said I had too many items now for them to take the time to restore during the time the refused the roll back (here and here).

    I then refused them to conduct a roll back if they refused to restore the items (again many purchased with real world money) they encouraged me to acquire while denying me a roll back fix.

    So 4 MONTHS later.....all the while having a broken game..... and me (ignoring and calling them out for all of their stalling or diverting tactics) constantly following up with them to either fix my game (which no one at EA apparently knew how to do) or do a roll back WITH restoring items (which EA Refused to do)...... a single EA development rep did actually find what was broken in my game (not the root cause, but what was wrong in the game to make all the items broken) and actually corrected what they found and FIXED MY GAME WITH NO LOSS IN MY PROGRESS (here).

    I have then been trying to get the EA development team in contact with that rep so they can show EA where the bugged variables are that breaks the games and how they adjusted them to fix the game without loss of progress. ( Here and Here[/b] ) This has resulted in no progress nor has EA been willing or able to apply the same fix the 10 times my game has been hit with this same glitch after this point, as they are only willing to do a Roll Back (and even then I had several reps say either for me to come to these forums to get my game fixed or that they cannot do a roll back which I flat out called them out on both points as being either dishonest or lazy if they insist either of these are a real solution).

    Theyre is all kinds if speculation about this, but nothing has been proven conclusively so far as I know. The best you can do if affected is to get a rollback as soon as possible so you lose as little progress as possible. Many players have been hit again, some multiple times. Its bordering on ridiculous that EA still hasnt said or done anything about it in going on A YEAR AND A HALF absolutely insane

  • So far I have contacted them several times now. Each time I get a person on the phone not able to do a rollback and told they are having a specialist call me back. So far nadda and awaiting a call back from a specialist as on hanging up with a rep just before making this post. It has been 5 days since I was hit with the glitch. So figure probably a week loss of time in this act with 4 days to go. I'll be seeking donut compensation as I'll have to rush the prize track and probably even have to buy crafted stuff with donuts too. And who knows how many donuts that will cost.

    I put this to the test 2 glitch hits ago. After I was hit,
    1. I cleared the cache
    2. uninstalled the game
    3. verified no lingering files were left on my tablet
    4. I then scoured my tablet and uninstalled any old apps, deleted old books & movies, etc... to make sure I had over 4 GB free space and least amount of apps taking up RAM
    5. Then called EA to do a roll back, which they did
    6. After the roll back, I reinstalled the game
    7. I left the game on internal memory (vs moving to SD Card)

    After all these precautions I was hit again 2-3 weeks later. Then after that hit and roll back, hit again within 24 hours of that roll back.
  • @hobbesisreal I was refering mostly to your case (if you couldnt tell :* ) but didnt want to put you out there (even though most regulars here would know) but thanks for the info. Pretty much thanks for sharing your experience. If it helps at all I would bet that at the very least you have helped dozens upon dozens of players get their games rolled back, so there is a tiny silver lining for you. Im sure you would rather have you game back, but at least some good has come from this nightmare

    @0Brooders0 Next time you get hit with this glitch, You should attach it to a trouble ticket to EA saying this popped up in your game and don't know what to do now.

    I haven't played for weeks now as I'm too scared I WILL get it! :(

    I have my own forum and some of my members also have the glitch and even with a roll back suffered the same glitch again. A few have called it a day and many are either not playing like me or spending on anything new.

    I am very close to emailing EA a piece of my mind!!! I'm so angered by the total silence from them and the disrespect they have for customers. :#
