So when is a new content update coming? This lack of support by EA is very disturbing for a game so popular. Also, when can we expect it back on the App Store?

My advice to anyone reading this: Find a different game, outside of EA, to devote your time towards.

    1) Game has zero support. You will not find any moderator to help you out.
    2) The connection issues from months ago still remain a common issue.
    3) Progress is slow and frequently lost due to said connection issues.
    4) Known bugs such as your town being rearranged, buildings no longer built, town characters missing, erratic notifications of visitors, donuts vanishing for no reason.
    5) But it's free to play! It'll just take you months on end of grinding. But, your progress can be lost any moment with no one here to help you resolve the issue.

    Fun times indeed.

    1. First, you can get it for free!

    11. And did we mention... it's free to play?

IS THAT ALL? Of course not! But who wants to read all this text on an iPhone screen? So you should CHECK OUT THE SCREENSHOTS because the screenshots really sell it... even though we really don't have to sell this game... because it's FREE!

    :D

I find this to be misleading. Correct, the game itself can be downloaded for free, but to be able to fully realize and play the game to its extent, you have to pay money. Not only that, but you have to pay a lot of money. Don't crap on my plate and then tell me it's cake.

As I commented elsewhere, in it's entirety. I thought the Hipstamatic and Skyrim comparisons were particularly fun.

I had to comment, as this is one aspect of this game I find somewhat frustrating. It feels like there's a whole side to this game that is being restricted unless you dump heaps of cash into it. I've never been a big fan of this style of game, where they give it away free, but to be able to fully realize certain aspects of the game, you have to pay a premium. The premium they charge you though isn't a fair amount. There's numerous games out there that charge a flat rate, something like 5 dollars for the game, and deliver a lot more content than this particular game could ever hope to have.

Regardless, I like the game itself, I think it's a fun idea. The high cost of donuts though kind of it kills it for me, it even kills me more that there's a lot of stuff in this game I can't access unless I start paying that premium. I could easily spend more on that premium than the cost of a big budget game on a console.

Regarding other games of this fashion, there's another I played. It didn't make me feel like I was missing out on something by not purchasing their premium currency that is used to speed the game up. I felt like given the time and patience, I could experience all the game has to offer.

Does this make me cheap? Because I don't want to spend 5 dollar for 60 donuts? What does that buy me in the game? It doesn't get me far at all, and for that same price I could get a full game chock full of content elsewhere on the App store. When I saw the boatload of donuts for 100 dollars. I don't understand that. I don't understand the mentality that goes into that, or the people that purchase that. I don't understand how they sit around in meetings and go gee, I think it's a good idea to charge 100 dollars for a premium item that is consumable.

What can we compare that to? How about Skyrim. Yeah. That's a 60 dollar game. It's massive. It took a massive team to create it, to realize every aspect of that game. It's 40 dollars less than the boatload of donuts and provides way more content, content that doesn't just go away. You can play Skyrim, beat it, play it again. Those donuts, once used, they're gone forever. That's my issue with this whole pay structure. It's not just about developers getting paid for their work, it's that they're price gauging you on premium content that is depletable. If I started a new town, I don't get any benefits I had from my previous in app purchase. I'd have to make those purchases all over again. Skyrim? If I beat the game, I can play it again and still have that same content.

I have no problem paying money for a game. I've done it a lot. If this game was 5 dollars and did away with the donut system as it is now, I'd happily purchase it. As it stands though, it's ridiculous.

What does EA care though? What does anyone care? I don't understand why people don't see what's wrong with this. I don't see why more people don't step back and go wait a second. I get it, people don't want to spend a lot of money. This whole idea is fine, you give a game away for free, but then charge for a couple premium aspects. The way they implement it though, you don't really gain anything. In other applications, if I do an in-app purchase I gain something that doesn't just go away. Hipstamatic for instance, when I purchase a film, it's unlimited, it's mine (As much as something can be mine, given the context).

If we applied the same mechanics to that program(Hipstamatic) as this game has, when you made purchases it'd be for a limited amount. Like, a 99 cent purchase would buy you a roll of fancy(premium) film. 24 Pictures? And once they're used up, they're used up. You can take some normal photos, but to get the fancy film you have to keep spending 99 cents. This isn't like real life either, where that roll of film is something that needs to be manufactured, that is a tangible item. No, this is bits of data, 1s and 0s. Hipstamatic doesn't do that though, does it? You purchase a style of film and it's yours. You can take as many pictures as you want.

But again, EA doesn't care, and apparently no one else seems to care that much. No one else seems to see what's so wrong with this pricing model.

Jeh421, hammer, nail and well and truly hit on the head.

I love this game, my wife is pretty p****d off as she reckons more like addicted, and being honest probably am!

Only recently downloaded the re-released game and I to find the price of the donuts eye watering. I have a PS3 and think the price of the games are still over the top but at least once you've shelled out for it the game is yours to play time and time again.

I would really love to expand my Springfield but the idea of spending £70 for 2400 donuts to at least keep the cost per donut down to a minimum makes me whince as you need this amount to get all the premium items and what makes it worse is if EA keep with the game and develop it further as it could and should be, you'll use up the donuts and then have to shell out even more cash.

I think EA have missed out on an opportunity to make a whole load of money from this game (even more than they've earnt thus far), if they made the price much more reasonable more people would buy them. In this case I think it would be better to try and make a small amount of money from hundreds, if not many thousands of people rather than a bigger amount of money from far fewer people.

If they were say £25 for an unlimited supply, but to make the game last released at a rate of say 250 per day, I'd go for it big time and without hesitation.

Come on EA, we love the game and the great Halloween update but not the price of the donuts.

Yeah, Have fun hitting retry all the time with bart looking at you. Have fun w/ this **** game crashing and disconnecting constantly, have fun getting robbed by EA through iTunes, Have fun reloading game constantly, have fun getting no response from EA whatsoever when there are problems with this game still..... have fun waiting for EA to pull this bug filled crashy game once again in the same year from iTunes. I can't believe APPLE and ITUNES would even let this game onto their app store with all the problems it has. Guess Apple died w/ Steve Jobs.

I have some beef with EA and their no good servers!

On Thursday Oct. 4th when trying to logg on to my level 16 Springfield I kept getting an error message there is another springfield on this device with Level 0, would I like to reconnect. When I select NO the only other option it gives me is to play the game an anonymous. ITS A LOSE - LOSE situation either way! **** EA?!?! I spent my ACTUAL REAL LIFE MONEY to buy donuts to help me improve in the game.. MY REAL LIFE MONEY IS GONE along with the rest of my springfield.

So I said Fudge it, i'll have to start all over, fine. Now...I'm on level 9...saving my precious donuts... fine... NOW ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GONE! I had over 33 other springfields to visit and now as of Oct 7th THEY ARE ALL GONE. None of them are in my neighbors to visit, yet, they are still listed amongst "My Friends" ....

I've uninstalled the game, reset my iphone back and reinstalled the game, still not working properly. My iPhone software is up to date and so is the game.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON EA?? I WANT MY ACTUAL REAL LIFE MONEY BACK OR I WANT EVERYTHING BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS! HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED?? My login account name is: kemalyildiz

Has anyone else experienced this bullhssit?

The real shame about things is that this game could be absolutely brilliant but it simply isn't and IMO it only rates at "just OK".

Notwithstanding the fact I'm addicted to the bloody game, I to am getting fed up with the glitches or bugs and other annoying problems that spoil the whole game.

That on top of the hideously priced donuts, lack of support or updates from EA on their own forum almost makes me just want to say f**k it and delete it and pick a PS3 controller and get back to kicking baddies * in Batman or CoD!

    Kemalyildiz

I think the general consensus of opinion if you are unhappy with the way things stand is to seek a refund from Apple/iTunes.

However, in the meantime if you want to send me an invite please feel free to do so, got 2 Springfields on the go at; julesg007 and jules210264

EA Reading This: Oh screw YOU, player. We worked hard to make a crappy game and steal $1,000s of everyone's money. Do you think we intend to actually do something to make it better?
