Squid port is not a limited item so it is always available.
It never ceases to amaze me, but some on this forum are not happy unless they can rush through the tasks and finish everything as soon as possible. Well, it costs you more to do that if you're so desperate, but that hardly says its a rip off.
I like the idea of Squidport - slowly building something over a few months. It will keep interest level up and I can slowly develop the boardwalk and surrounding land. This is what the game is about - no need to speed tasks up, or pay real money to get tiles.
People spend real money to buy donuts to speed up tasks, then complain about being bored for lack of content updates. Those people might want to rethink their strategy when it comes to this game...
I've gotten to the point where I'm just sick of it. Play the game, if you no longer like the game, stop playing it. Just don't sit around and moan and whine, it belittles us as a species.

Cmon now, if there is a place to voice your opinion on a video game, it's on the official forums.
Whether it constitutes whining or praise for the game, this is the place to discuss tsto. I don't see why other people voicing their displeasure with the latest update, irks so many people on here.
If no one complained on these forums almost daily, consistently for the last 6+ months we still probably wouldn't have a donut confirmation button.

NO! I WANT EVERYTHING TODAY FOR FREE! GIMME GIMME GIMME!

It's one thing to voice displeasure with the time it takes to make all of the Boardwalk tiles.
But having at least 3-4 threads on the front page of people legitimately acting like they are having $500 stolen from them because they choose to speed up the free content? That isn't irksome, it's downright stupid. And stupid deserves to be identified as such.
There are new players who come to this forum to learn more about the game, and if all they see are people moaning about Squidport "costing $500" they're going to get the wrong information and think that's actually the case.
If you want to complain about the donut cost of premium items, or that your favorite characters are Premium, that's one thing. But to act like it's anybody's fault but you're own that you're dumping money into Donut-Rushing tasks/buildings? No. Sorry. No sympathy here.
While this game has been known to have underestimated or overestimated (or not estimated at all) the length of several events, this seems to be a deliberate calculation of roughly a year. Perhaps it has something to do with what was said at the end of the Herman quest line about finally trying to focus on improving the game (sorry but its not much of a spoiler). If thats true, they probably saw this as a way of keeping people interested in the game, whether it had/will have the desired effect or not.
I think once people get over the fact that this isnt like a limited time event but more like a really big level update theyll calm down a little. Personally im not a huge fan of the idea and i think its a very **** way of trying to extend the game, but we'll just have to get used to it and hopefully they have bigger and more exciting things planned for us to do in the future to complement the snail pace of quidport. but tbh, judging by past behavior i think they'll want to drag as many things out as they can
As I stated in another thread... Has anybody else thought this tile glitch (which it seems to be) where friends tap ur in progress boardwalk tile and it disappears is SUPPOSED to speed up ur tile? But is doing the reverse and taking it away? "For crying out loud its a social game" .. It would make sense that with good neighbors u could build your Boardwalk faster.. Maybe a fix is coming soon.. Look on the bright side lol.. Same thing happened with Whacking Day at first
It works out as a year but that doesn't take into account the visiting other peoples towns and tapping on their Squidport tiles to help them out.
I appreciate there might be a bug with this at the moment but surely that's the intended design here and would follow the whole social element of benefitting from visiting other people and benefitting from having them visiting you in return.

the reason i doubt this theory is because with a neigbor buddy it would take you almost no time at all (and certainly not a year) to unlock all the tiles. why have 84 hour tiles when you can just get a neigbor to unlock it for you in two minutes? there have been glitches in the past that have caused weird things to happen that had almost nothing to do with the items original purpose. think how long it takes to unlock a norma plot of land for those that dont cheat or buy donuts? my guess is that they werent expecting so many people to have all the land by now and are introducing something new that you cant pay for with game money and that takes an equally tedious amount of time to unlock. if theyve done it in the past why change stategies now?

Ok, there's a few inconsistencies there.
1) I'm not necessarily saying that if they fix the clicking on neighbour glitch that one click will automatically unlock one tile. There's lots of ways it could be designed - a click knocks 2 hours off a build for example. I'm sure that it will be something, like Whacking Day, that brings greater benefit the more you visit other towns.
2) It bears no comparison with unlocking a normal piece of land. There all you need is the money and it's yours - there no build time.
3) They haven't introduced anything new on the basis of peoples spending habits in the last 24 hours. This came in the update and it would need a new update to fix or remove.
But people buddied up for eggs in Whacking Day to get through it faster.. It's gotta be something cu a whole year is just too much.. I could even see a few months but not a year.

1) i see what youre saying here but knocking 2 hours off here and there isnt going to turn a year into 3 months. but i guess its pointless arguing here because we have nothing to base it on other than i think theyll drag it out and you dont
2)yes theres no build time on land but think about how long it takes for a nonhacker or donut spender to accumulate enough money to unlock an average plot of land. and while the more characters you have helps the plots of land also get more expensive
3)im not sure exactly what youre trying to say here but i assume youre saying the prices havent increased for buildings? theres possible reasons for it mainly people who have huge amounts of money wont be affected no matter how much you increase the price and the only people who are going to suffer are the lower level players who dont hack or buy heaps of donuts. speaking of donuts, things donut related have gone up in price

Exactly, really really tired of people complaining about how stuff isn't all free and everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. GET OVER YOURSELVES.
I'm not going to be nasty/ugly about it. What's the need for that?
However, I don't understand why anybody would be so upset? The game can be played without spending a penny. The game can be enjoyed without spending any real money. The only real investment required is time.
I just don't get it, sorry but I really don't understand why it's being called a "cash grab" and a "rip-off" when nobody is forced to actually spend money. There are other games that DO force the players to spend real money if they want to go any further, this one does not.
Calling the function of getting pieces to expand the boardwalk when it is 100% free and only takes time is one of the most categorically stupid things I have read on this forum.

Because it's bugged. There are multiple threads on it.
Well duh. Read my previous posts and you will see I acknowledged this at length. It's not far for you to scroll.
