You do know that Nolan is only a producer. That's it. The whole film is by Zack Snyder. Nolan had no involvement whatsoever in how the story or characters were portrayed.

How was it?
So, superman is flying around the city, trying to find lex Luther, who's teamed up with bozzaro, the joker, and mr faultly.
They go around destroying oil drills, trying to destroy the world economy with the increase of gas prices. You see the flaw with this is that the governments are trying to do this anyway. Mr faultly then gets in a fight with superman, where he gives up the other villains locations. Superman goes to the joker first, but he gets in a fight with batman, batman is killed, a mourning scene, and so on. Then superman has a scene with Lois lane, nothing really to add the plot, but then joker's henchman come in and take her, joker comes, explains stuff, and puts a bullet through Lois's head. At this point in the movie you probably wish you where Lois. Anyway, superman is crushed, and get's so angry he beats the joker to death. Bozzaro was following close behind, and enters the room. Bozzaro beats the crap out of superman, and taunts him until superman attempts to drown himself, but is saved by his conscious telling him everything will be all right. Superman preseeds to beat up bozzaro, and is forced to kill him as he tries to murder innocent people. The climate is reached as superman reaches lex Luther fortress , and has to beat up a couple thousand guards, though he is unsuccessful. Superman is brought to lex Luther, who injects kryptonite into his blood and tells him he will die in 15 minutes, and there is no cure. He finally explains the full plan, telling him that he only hired mr faultly, bozzaro and the joker to weaken superman by killing off Lois. He had been sending out his henchman to destroy oil drills in order to raise gas prices. This would lead to corruption, riots, and governments weakening. Lex explained that once the governments where weak enough, he would bomb cities, and turn places into anachys, so he could take them over, eventually he would have the governments of the world so weak that the entire work would practically be an anarchy, and lex could be strong enough to take over the world and build a more complex civilization, using technology's he created as an alternate source of power. By this time in the film, you are probably hoping you where going to die soon like superman. Anyway, super man breaks out of the shackles, beats up Lex, and destroys the whole lab, meaning lex had no plans anymore because they were destroyed. By now you wish you had never had any plans to see this "thriller". Anyway, Lex took out this kryptonite gun and shoots superman, but superman finds the self destruct button to the fortress and blows it up. The scenes winding down show that superman had been recording lex talking about his plans, and now that he was dead, none of them could be carried out, and several hundred people were on the streets, but they still had a ceremony for superman anyway, calling it a an international holiday called man of steel day.

I can confirm the movie is very very good indeed and certaintly looks set to be this years summer blockbuster, it's by far the best superman movie ever done yet, I won't give away any spoilers but the movie is more focused on the origin of superman, in fact he is only referred to as superman in one line in the entire movie, it's either Clark Kent or kal-el. Henry Cavill plays a much more serious superman, the fight scenes are awesome, Russell Crowe is especially v.good in this movie, the only shame is I hoped that Kevin Costner would of been given more screen time, he probably has 5 mins screen time total in a movie that's almost 2hrs 30mins long! This is definately a new direction for superman and I can't wait for the next movie, for those thinking this is a Nolan movie it's not, he was involved in the pre production of the movie and that was it pretty much, this is a 100% Snyder movie.
Also I wouldn't recommend paying the extra for the 3D, man of steel wasnt filmed in 3D and is there for a post conversion to try and cash in, the 3D just doesn't bring anything to the movie at all, I didn't really notice much in the way of depth and I plan to go see it again in IMAX 2D next week.....in short highly recommended, don't miss it!
