Do you like to go to costume parties on Halloween in costume? What or who will you be this year if yes?

I voted Taco because while I used to enjoy dressing up at a Halloween party, I did not "go" to said party. In my circle of friends, I was the one that would host the party. Having kids changed all that.

I never have anything to wear, but then I tend to dress down rather than up :D
    No Halloween parties this year.

I have to work this year on Halloween because I changed jobs back in April so my vacation will have to wait until Spring and my favorite time of year, which is now, will have to be celebrated only on my days off. But I'm at the age where if I could, I would try to find a costume like Bette Davis wore in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane and sang I've Written a Letter to Daddy when she was 54 years old and wearing scary makeup.

When I was in Kindergarten, I remember my first public shaming, as my fam was too poor to buy me one of those old style store costumes. Remember the plastic mask with rubber band, and printed plastic sheet for the rest of it? Yeah, too pricey to splurge on 5yo little me.

So, the teacher gave me a spare mask, so I could go around the school with the other kids. It was a cat's face with long eyelashes and a bow in its hair. Some kind of cartoonish, female cat head. Fortunately we were too young for anyone to call me a pưss-y. But I hated it, and never forgot.

So I avoided Halloween until I was old enough to roam the neighborhood alone. It was 1980, and my friend and I borrowed everything necessary to be THE BLUES BROTHERS.

We knocked all night and I filled an entire pillowcase with candy myself. From then on, I made my own costumes, every year.

Here's a sample of some of my costume creations throughout the years.

    Fred Flintstone (& Barney)

    Cap'n Jack Sparrow

Garth Vader (w/ CD: "Ropin' the Force")

I also make some fancy Jack O'lanterns:

    Cookie Monster

Darth Vader (looks better when lit)

I drew the conclusion somewhere along the way, that good-natured citizens spending their hard-earned money, don't need OR want to be left with excess candy, because not enough kids came to get it. And so it was my DUTY to go knock on every door, and get that candy, until every porch light was off! I'm pretty sure I trick-or-treated until I was drinking age.
Then it got serious: cash prizes!

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

    Great costumes, @4junk3000!

We made our own costumes, too. I don't usually dress up now unless I've got a brilliant idea, which hardly ever happens. I had a good Rocky Horror costume years ago, but it took about a million hours to make and then fell apart by the end of the evening
