Posters note: i posted this in the wrong thread somehow... (blame it on the flaming moe's i've had tonight) so i'll repost it here...
I feel like, but in no way shape or form, can confirm, that the people upset with this update are those that want to just Donut their way through it.
The developers have taken a logical step to kind of circumvent the ridiculous donut spending crowd to a point where even they dont want to spend to speed through it.
This might make you angry, but it makes perfect sense. I'm sure if you dont spend a single dime on the game, the progression is perfectly fine, provided you are patient enough. I'm sure someone with more knowledge of the time tables than me could make some sort of chart that shows progression in real days of tiles built vs. buildings offered and whatnot.
I'm not a person with that much disposable income, that being said, I'm not patient, and i've also spent real monies on this game as well, and i'm totally okay with the "ridiculous" times, because it pushes me to be patient. It forces me into a perspective of "well, i guess i'll just have to wait this long because i don't want to spend real money to reach the current "end" of the game."
Not to mention that since the game is now on almost all the mobile platforms, the add on content is getting more and more robust! So reaching the end of this to wait until august or whenever for Kamp Krusty... yeah no, i'll space it out. Really when it boils down to it, this game is tapping for a few minutes then waiting an hour or 24 to do some more tapping for another few minutes.
What keeps me coming back is the fact that its one of my favorite franchises of all time, and i'm glad it hasnt worn out its welcome yet.
just some thoughts...
Additional notes: Have you ever Bought a game and were disappointed about how quickly you beat it? Yes, technically you cant beat this game. The devs. are building longevity into the game, and i for one, as an android user, came in late to the game. Heck, my first "holiday" was *. patty's day. No halloween, no christmas, not even valentines day! I originally paid ZERO dollars for this game. I've paid some since then because i want this game to flourish, to carry on. What i DO NOT want is to spend every day hoping for another update because i've currently maxed out every last little thing i could do aside from the random quests for characters.
Bring it on Tapped out Devs, thank you for adding progression and for making me want to log in every 1 or 4 or 8 or even 72 hours!
I agree - I don't care how long it takes, it means that it won't be over quickly and I can enjoy the expansion. I've hit level 30, and still haven't built Fat Tony's Compound, but as it's a game and not a race, I'm not that fussed.
I agree with almost everything you said, except the part about EA(the developers) wanting to curb donut spending by making the wait this long. It's 110% the exact opposite. They're trying to encourage donut spending by having people speed up tiles. Just because you and a lot of others aren't speeding up tiles doesn't mean that there aren't tens of thousands of people who do, whether its 5 tiles, 50 tiles, or all of them, that's more money in their pocket. This games sole purpose to EA is to make money and be in the black. It was really genius on their part, even though I think it's "ridiculous". Also, a lot of people play this game because they like spending a lot of time designing their towns, not just logging on a couple times a day to collect and progress through the quests. I think that's why people are complaining, they've been waiting and getting excited about SP, then it arrives and you can't really do all that much for the first few weeks without spending a lot of donuts. I just can't possibly see how the tile time couldn't be somewhat related to tempting people to speed them up. Obviously being an expansion, its like the beginning of the game again, so there's really no hurry and in a few months everyone will have a nice boardwalk. And I'm sure there will be a couple level updates and Krustyland over the summer to keep everyone busy while waiting on tiles.
I am ok with 1 tile a day. Anything over that is waaaaaaay too long. I am just going onto my 16 th tile.... Freakin have to wait 36 hours now....
Ha, yes same here. It's annoying when you have to complete 16 tiles to progress to the next Squidport stage - and the time level for the 16th tile jumps up from 24 hours to 36 hours!!
