BTW guys did you see on BBC news that their culture critics have voted for Mulholland Drive as the best film of the 21st century?
I'm pleased to see Lynch right up there, I love Lynch, but not sure if this is my favourite of his later films, just wondered what you guys might think?
I think I'm more of a Lost Highway kind of a guy

I hadn’t thought about it ’till you raised the question, but, yeah, Mulholland Drive is probably my favorite Lynch film. Nice to see that respect for this movie has grown over the last 15 years, but dunno that I’d consider it the best of the 21st century.

It's got a great soundtrack, but then, they all have! I'm torn between The Elephant Man and Blue Velvet as my favourite Lynch Film.

They picked these as top ten-

    1. Mulholland Drive (2001)
    2. In the Mood for Love (2000)
    3. There Will Be Blood (2007)
    4. Spirited Away (2001)
    5. Boyhood (2014)
    6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
    7. The Tree of Life (2011)
    8. Yi Yi: A One and a Two (2000)
    9. A Separation (2011)
    10. No Country for Old Men (2007)

Thanks for the post, Lawrence. I’m fascinated by these lists while simultaneously recognizing that they’re fairly subjective and meaningless. Here’re my Top 10 with the caveats that (a) each year there are dozens of films I should be seeing that I don’t get around to; (b) I don’t consider these the “best” in the sense that I believe they will necessarily be regarded years hence as great movies, but rather concede that they are more simply my personal “favorites” that I can endlessly re-watch; and (c) a year or even a month from now this list might look completely different. In no particular order...

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Anthony Russo & Joe Russo, 2014)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Michel Gondry, 2004)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson, 2014)
    Mulholland Drive (David Lynch, 2001)
    Inception (Christopher Nolan, 2010)
    Lincoln (Stephen Spielberg, 2012)
    A Prophet (Jacques Audiard, 2009)
The Normal Heart (Ryan Murphy, 2014)
Pan’s Labyrinth (Guiermo del Toro, 2006)
Y Tu Mamá También (Alfonso Cuarón, 2001)
