I wish there were a way to move characters to a specific part of town

There are some characters who I like to have in certain parts of town as their animated task just looks really cool there. But it seems there is no way to move a character to a specific point. I just have to wait until they get into that area and then activate the desired task.

Replies

  • Same. Oh well... Catch them at the perfect time it is. I will say we need more decorative enabled actions. Pressing the decoration to fast task a visible task. Like moes express and pagan bonfire

  • Can't you temporarily move a job destination to the location you want them in? Then after the job ends, move it back and the character will remain?

i.e. move Moes bar where you want him to be.....send Moe on a job there....after job move bar back?
  • I so get this!

I have a little trick, but it doesn't work with every character. Put the character on a job that sends them to a brown house, move the brown house to the area I want the character in, store the brown house. Tada!

But again, doesn't work on every character. It's also a lot of trouble unless you really want the character there.
  • I agree @Smplsimon42 I like Princess Penelope singing her princess song in Krustyland but she tends to wander away. When I find her I have her go to the one plate buffet (which I also placed in Krustyland) to get her to go back there. There are several others I like their outdoor tasks in specific areas. The wiccans are especially bad at wandering behind buildings when I want them visibly doing their spell.

While we’re at it, how about an employment button for visible tasks only? I’d like to see all my characters at once without having to task all 300plus individually! :)
  • Ya, seems like it would be a simple code adjustment. Just be able to move them like other decos.
Make Nightmare Pile like Zombie Sandwich. All kids trick or treat at once.
  • There is a way. But you aren’t going to like it. Remove all of your roads except those that are where you want your character to be. There are two ways to get them where you want them.
    1. Set them to task in a building, then move the building to where you want the character to be. Put down one or two lengths of road. Then either store the building or wait until their task ends. The character will stay by that chunk of road. Put the building back. Set character to visual task. They will be right where you want them to be.
    2. If the building can’t be stored, then you have to force the character to move. They will go to the nearest road. Find the character and put a square of road by it. Put 1 square of road down in the direction of where you are targeting. Remove the first bit of road. The character will go to the new bit of road. Repeat until the character is where you want it to be. (This works with NPC’s also) As long as there is no closer road, they will stay where you want them. I’ve had Maggie crawling around by the play-dough factory forever. I set her to her 1879 task and she is available when her bead pops up over the factory.

The Wiccans are like the street sweeper (and others) they LOVE the dirt roads.

    Hope this helps!!

Family Guy TQFS has this feature so it's not impossible.

Thanks @daved7637397 I have a dirt road system in my zoo (in all my games) and in one game the Wiccans are indeed hanging out there. In the others though they keep wandering into my congested industrial areas when I would rather they be in the park :) Using your tip I will try getting them to go in the library, move the library temporarily by the zoo and see if they stay on the dirt roads

No problem. Happy to help! I hope it works for you.

that game is way simplier and built with it included and having squares specificly added with that in them or something. impossible probably the way tsto is

I was wondering, as I remembered they pointed out the character movement, like it was some special deal in the game, but it's been so long since I played it as I dislike TinyCo's game model.
