I've been sort of in and out of the game lately. I'm not giving up, I just am taking my time with it now. And some stuff has come up in my life that's sort of serious that I got to take care of. So, haven't had the energy to do much in this game. And I suppose its the perfect time for me to take downtime from the game and focus on other stuff. But, I've been paying attention to what's been going on, and I agree that it sucks not having anything new. But, sort of glad under my circumstances....

Don't increase the Item Limit? Then I don't play. Period.
People who live on forums represent a very small segment of people who are emotionally invested and because of this would ride this game to the bitter end - no matter what.
I’ve played five or six games that died. At the end there were still people playing. True most people had left, there was no new content, and the game became monotonous. But there were still some things that I hadn’t completed, so I plugged on until they unplugged the game. I’ve played some games that had nearly a year between updates. I hung around because I wanted to see how the story ended. I still play a few games on my Wii.
The fat lady hasn’t sung yet, therefore I will continue.
This break, the tennis courts, and the box have allowed me to do a number of things:
First
and I have unlocked all available land, which allowed me to buy enough tennis courts to hit 2000% multiplier, and with the land I could bring out all kinds of buildings and hide hundreds of tennis courts.
Now I can continue revamping my town, and slowly replace tennis courts with smaller items. I'm around for the long haul.
Unsolicited friends requests are all denied. Please PM me.
As long as there's new content every month I'm likely to keep playing. I do think the mini-event format has gotten extremely stale so I'd rather see more downtime framed by actual events with a modicum of creativity.
This is the exact opposite of what I asked. Nothing new was added to this update, and this update isn't even a mini event..
Back to the question at hand, I understand if your a long time player that doesn't have all the stuff being re-released, but for those that have everything released, or most, how long will you wait to see if new stuff is released?
Joined at Android launch, have most everything, maxed IGC, donuts are not an issue, etc.
I've been taking advantage of the downtime to catch up on redesign / expansion into the new land. Should be done within the next week or so. A bit challenging as I'm up against the item limit and figuring out creative ways to strip items without going totally sterile.
Once that's done, assuming there's no new content (and item increase) in the next month or so I'll stop being a daily player and only drop in when/if content is added. Like others it will be hard to walk away, but if there's nothing to do...

I've been playing since the beginning and the real fun for me comes from designing my town. I still log in every day, but without new content that I enjoy.. I log out quickly.
You got a great looking town~168sean... Checked out your town, WOW! ~daved

Me too.. I love this game, I really hope they come with new content soon..
I started a new town to counterattack the dissatisfaction I felt for the new mini-non-event format. I haven't abandoned my old town by no means, but the lack of events had robbed me somewhat from the enthusiasm I had when there were new items to get and things to strive for. Playing the game anew gave me back a lot of the enjoyment I've always had with TSTO. The town building has always been a major part of the appeal, and now I have two towns to design! Double the fun
I will be very disappointed if there will no longer be new content or events, but I doubt I'll stop playing any time soon.
@kromkromkrom has a great solution. Starting a new town opens the possibility of creating a new town (perhaps challenge yourself to purposely avoid - insofar as possible - any resemblance to your first town).
Starting a new town might also surprise you to realise just how hard it is to have no land and no money to purchase the building needed to progress through the next level.
At least, that's what I've been told. I've never had a second town, so I'm not what you could call an expert on this. [Annette pauses for gales of laughter to die down]. I accidentally started a new game in anonymous mode a while back. I thought I’d logged into my account game and the new event was a re-nuking of Springfield. It took a moment for me to figure out what was going on and why I was looking at the Simpson house, Homer, and nothing else. I aged years in that moment.

ROFL. If I'd have thought that was a new event, my heart would have stopped. Then I'd have checked storage (assuming the icon was there at the very start of the game). Yikes. You just gave me a world-class shock.

So the dialog isn't "new content" for you? Seems new to me. I think of this game as an interactive comic strip. I read all the dialog and enjoy it. The items offered are also limited releases. So their return is welcome by people who have none to spare, and enjoy designing.
Collection of new items is just one facet of this game. Those fixated on it are obviously missing out on a lot of fun, at least judging from the excessive whine spilled lately
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
I have been playing since nearly the beginning and will keep playing until the game ends. I am changing all my roads to rainbows using the crosswalks so that will keep me busy for years.
