@Rhinomix76 is the Sopranos highly recommended?

Yes Sean I think so. I loved it when it first aired. I would like to have a rewatch binge one of these days.

I thought I'd celebrate the spooky season by watching some spooky films I haven't seen in a long time. I started with this anthology film based on Stephen King stories. Besides the goofy final segment, which was written specifically for the movie, I thought it held up well and was a good watch. I liked all the nods to other King works sprinkled throughout the film too.

  • Cat's horror... I remember The Black Cat. I think by Edgar Allan Poe

Went for another classic King title for my next Spookyween film. While the acting and effects haven't aged well, I still enjoyed this and look forward to the upcoming remake. A decent watch.

  • @Rhinomix76 I remember cats eye. I watched on a bad quality rented VHS tape. I can only remember the anti smoking story though

Thought I'd continue the King binge and watched this classic for the first time since it came out. It still holds up really well and is deservedly considered one of the best King adaptations. A good rewatch.

  • I watched Misery in the cinema. A good watch @Rhinomix76

Daniel Craig’s final Bond movie… I’m gonna miss him
  • Daniel Craig is my favourite bond. As his portrayal is serious and realistic. My favourite bond songs are A View to a Kill and The Living Daylights

Its between him and Connery for me, but yeah, Craig’s Bond is more serious than the others. My favourite bond song I think is You know my name from Casino Royale

  • You Know My Name was playing in my mind during that period too. All the songs are pretty nice. I still could not connect with the latest song yet.

Kaiji : The Ultimate Gambler (2009)
    Kaiji 2 (2011)
    Kaiji : Final Game (2020)

This is one of the film series that Squid Game was inspired by. I don't think it is that great. The first one I would rate it average. I, in fact, need to fast forward in their supposedly thrilling scenes as it was too long. The two sequels I would rate it above average as the plot moves faster. The characters in it have anime vibes so I guess they were faithful to their manga.

Overall I think maybe this series would attract the manga fans but not really the mainstream audience.

Raging Fire (2021). This is one of the best HK action thriller since SPL and Flashpoint. It is by director Benny Chan who had many other good films like Shaolin and New Police Story. Unfortunately, this was also his last film as he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away at 58 during the making of this film.

Running Out of Time (1999). Rewatched this HK thriller by renowned director Johnnie To, who is well known for his gangster films. I didn't pay attention when I first saw it on TV during a lunar new year.

This film is more of an heist and catch me if you can kind of genre. An above average watch and a good departure from Johnnie's usual style.

For some reason I never watched this sequel back in the day when it first came out and turns out I made a good decision then. It is terrible lol. Seems like a quick money grab to capitalize on the popularity of the first movie and book. Very campy with bad dialogue and acting makes for a bad watch. It was interesting to see Tom Hanks best friend from Big play the bully.

I remember not caring for this when it first came out but I thought I'd give it another try. Sadly, I still don't care for it much. It starts off well enough with a good setup, premise and cast of characters. I really like the four friends and their backstory. I wish the film stuck more with that instead of the military involvement that dominates the second half. Not a recommended watch.

  • @Rhinomix76 yes this is what I wrote for Pet Semetry 2 -An average watch. First one better. The terminator 2 boy is in it.

I watched Dreamcatcher in the cinema there was some censorship. I always wondered what was cut. Always unhappy with our cinema back then

You're My Pet (2011). A Korean romantic comedy, based on a Japanese manga. The plot revolved an arrangement where a guy was kept by a lady like a pet. I feel that the idea was contrived. And I also don't like the male actor. The beautiful, popular lead actress, Kim Ha-neul and the attractive supporting actress helps though, in this what I rate as an average film

The beautiful supporting actress. Jeong Yu-mi

A Battle of Wits (2006). This is a ancient war film jointly produced by China, Korea and Japan. The story involved a city state under siege and a scholar from the school of Mohism was engaged to defend the city. Mohism is one of the ancient schools that sprang out alongside Confucianism.

Some of the values of Mohism include universal love, austerity and Utilitarianism.

This is a good rewatch as I didn't pay much attention in the past. Epic battle scenes and a Shakespearean plotline.

This is another one I never watched when it originally came out. This is treated as a direct follow up to the original and is written and directed by the writer of the original book. I thought this was a pretty good film that has gone overlooked and underrated. A good story with good acting along with some good scares makes it a good watch!
