Premium Items + Ralph Tasks
45 posts
Hey buddy,
Welcome to the forums. I've spent at least $400AU on this game and I haven't regretted it for a second. If you've been lurking for a while you would know that this is a great community in which you can share your creations and ideas with some great people. We take pride in our towns and I'm sure others will join me in saying that. It has been mentioned on here before that you could spend $50-$100 on drinks while you're out or $2-$3 here and there on a chocolate bar and then you will have nothing to show for it. At least if you spend money on the premium items you will have something tangible to show off to either your friends who play, or the great people here, a lot of whom I consider my friends.
As for the tasks, I don't recall hearing or reading of any new tasks for the older characters in the game, unless they're given new skins, which, as far as Ralph is concerned, is unlikely. But I wouldn't say it's never going to happen. I'm in agreement that it is annoying, but it gives the game variety and kind of forces people (well at least me) to set Ralph (for example) on 1hr tasks while everybody else goes on 4hr tasks, and then every hour until the 4hrs is up for everybody else.
Oh, and one more thing..

I'm not sure how much I've spent but I've been buying a few 300 donut packages whenever I had the money or Gil gave a discount. Other than that I usually buy one golden ticket every Sunday just for * and giggles.
In a sense I can understand the idea of "wasted money" when it comes to donuts, but I like to pay for my entertainment. TSTO is the first game that has ever brought me to a forum and for me it is a truly rewarding game. I'm creative kind of guy, and sure - if I spend money and convases and brushes my creativity comes out in something that is "real" and possibly something I can sell, but still the satisfaction of creating the best town to my ability is still worth the dough for some premiums.
Now, I do cheat in games occasionally. At least I used to when I was younger and thought having unlimited ammo on GTAIII was more fun than the challange to collect it. But really. I've talked to people who are suing hacks who got bored the minute they finished their towns. And posting images of your town to show people how creative you were with the "limitations" they had is just pitiful. Each to their own and all that, but seriously.
Regarding Ralph I totally agree. Really annoying to don't have 4h task. Also he's so bloody tiny so he's hard to see. He can almost hide behind concrete.
I think I probably will buy some more premium stuff, I've created a bit of a town centre area which is a bit desolate at the moment.
I agree about the fun being with working within limitations, I've never really thought about it as a creative outlet before but maybe you're right!
Don't think I'll be spending as much as that but I'll probably wait until Gil comes back to get some stuff on the cheap.
You may be waiting a little while unfortunately. As you probably know the two previous donut sales have been six months (approximately) apart, one in December, and then the next in June I believe. The next Gil sale will contain the Springfield Sign and the Duff Brewery (speculation
But the game will be here for a long time if it keeps going the way it is, so there's no rush. Good to have you on the forums mate.
Originally I wasn't going to spend any money on this game, but after not splashing out for the premium stuff at Holloween and Christmas I regretted it. So started investing. I've been playing this game a couple of times a day since August. I can justify the money for this game cause of my daily addiction
...now I am stuck in a loop of needing to have everything...
I am also a fan of 1 hour and 4 hour tasks, I do find it annoying not to have the option.
Dredrick Tatum doesn't have a 1 hour, which I find annoying.
Also Rich Texan doesn't have a 4 hour, but he has a 3 hour, so thats not too bad.
I'd like to see them bring back some of the nicer building animations with these. Like a simple, Tatum 1 hour 'dine in El Chimirstri' or Texan 4 hour 'business deal in Pimento Groove' would be great.
The Open Air Stage is missing an 8 hour slot too.
just thinking aloud here, but it's be cool to see the school kids band recital on the stage. 4 hour task, all of the kids involved (maybe release it if they ever release the twins).
They could move Willies 4 hour bagpiping to an 8 hour then (never really a fan of his current 8 hour task, Haggis time)
A lot of the veteran players have had the pleasure if obtaining a lot of the premium items that are available to newer players, for free. Barney cost me 250 donuts and I know that was one of the freebies with Christmas. That's just one example too.
At the end of the day, it matters not what other people think of your town. It only matters if you like it. Having said that, it's nice to for others to appreciate your work too.
Incorrect.
I know exactly what you mean about spending real cash on virtual donuts. I played the game for quite a while without spending any money on donuts to buy premium items but every time I went to the buildings and decorations items, I'd see all these amazing looking items that costs donuts and I thought 'That would look great in my town...' The more I played, the harder it was to resist not getting them!!
Then, along came Gil's sale and I totally caved in and bought a boat load!!
The thing is, once you've bought the big premium items, you've bought them - you only have one Springfield sign and one Volcano lair etc, so while the initial outlay might have been more, you only spend the donuts once.
All I do now is buy a golden scratch card every Friday and build my donuts up that way. They cost 69p in the UK which is less than the cost of a lottery ticket and about a fifth of the price of a pint of decent beer. And when you've spent cash on premium stuff, it's always there for you to enjoy when you next log into the game (unless there's been some horrendous system error!!). You could spend almost twice as much on a lottery ticket, watch the draw, win nothing and chuck the ticket away. Bye bye £1.
Enjoy the game, have fun and play to whatever level and cost you're comfortable with.
Also, if you want to centre your sig add [ center ] at the start and [ /center ] at the end (around the img tags) without the spaces between the ['s
Is this a good way to build up doughnuts? I've always wondered whether it works out better to buy them flat out or win them on scratch cards...
It is if you get 100!! I usually get 6 or 9 each time to be honest and even if you get 6, two scratch cards to win 12 donuts is still slightly cheaper than buying a dozen.
If the next Gil sale might be Duff Brewery and the Springfield Sign, then I'm curious what would happen if I accept and buy this deal. I already own the Duff Brewery, but I don't own the Springfield sign. Will I then get the Springfield Sign and 190 donuts, or will I not be able to buy this deal at all? (I already assume I of course can't own two brewery's...)
You would get the sign and two breweries - not likely.
You would get the sign and the 190 donuts - also not likely IMHO.
You would get the sign and nothing else, therefore wasting donuts - likely.
You wouldn't get the offer at all - likely.
I have bought the golden scratchers too. Won 6-9 donuts but I've also won 20, 50, and 100 donuts. You should try to find iTunes cards on sale. There will probably will be some more sales for Back to School (if your in America). Buy the cheaper amounts of donuts that you feel comfortable with and wait for the Gil sale. As it is, I'm about to go get the iTunes cards they have on sale this week and hope Gil comes with a sale in time for Krustyland.
