We were watching Bacon Paradise (yes, it is a show all about BACON) and they had bacon brownies on it. My husband decided to make them and they were yummy!

Feast your eyes on this (not my picture but looks just like it)...and it wasn't turkey bacon. I normally don't have pig bacon but figured if I was going to be bad and have brownies then may as well go all out!

So what did you have today that was yummy?

It looks delicious, a mixture of sweet and salted, ummmmm, yummy...

I had a gazpacho. It's a cold soup made with tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and others. I love vegetables, and eaten like that is great for the summer. :)

    Those brownies looks amazing!

I'm going to dinner in about an hour, and plan on getting the Kobe Beef Burger, it's pricey, but absolutely amazing. I'll make sure to order bacon on top :)

I like my burgers with avocado and bacon on top. My husband would add an egg to the mix. Try it, it's really good. I am allergic to egg whites (albumin) so I can't have the egg but he swears by it.

Mitzy - it's really good. You just substitute half the oil that goes into the brownie with the rendered bacon fat and then crumble up the bacon into the batter. Then you crumble bacon on top when it comes out. It's really delish. Sweet and salty.

Those empanadas look fantastic! So do the brownies. The empanadas remind me of a restaurant north of where I live that used to make a bay shrimp empanada that was amazing. Now I'm really hungry!

The empanadas (I'm Cuban so it's a stable at our house and pretty much the same as the Jamaican meat pies or a beef turnover), Goya makes an empanada shell but you can also google how to make the dough. I suggest the shells because they are easier and you can freeze them and keep them forever.

Then you can fill them either with some sort of melting cheese or do like we do. We take ground meat, season it with taco seasoning and put it in the middle of the shell then just a bit of shredded cheese. Fold over and use a fork to pinch the sides, then drop it in the hot grease to deep fry. My mother always added chopped up olives, onions, garlic and tomatoes but we like to keep it simple.

If you do just the meat or cheese version? You can freeze them (before cooking, lol) and pull them out anytime to have as a snack or meal later on.

I'm a big fan of semi-home cooked meals which means you take store items and add something to them to make them home cooked. The brownies are from a box but we changed up some of the ingredients (adding the rendered bacon fat in place of half the oil) and the bacon to make it semi-home cooked.

Did you see my suggestion to add avocado to that? Looks good but it needs an avocado and perhaps an egg.

    I did but I'm anti-avocado :) never liked them.

I love egg on my burgers, it's great. I eat like 6-8 egg whites every morning.

They put this garlic aoili sauce on it though, so I didn't think the egg would mesh well, but whenever I make a burger at home on the grill, i usually top it off with an egg and bacon.

@ChrisP - we were watching Burger Paradise (SHUT UP!! LOL I was bored and there was nothing on TV other than the lame Travel Channel binging tours) and they went to a place that had the oddest burger....

Peanut butter and jelly bacon burger. I think I threw up a little seeing it, it was a big sloppy mess but the people were raving on it as if it were the second coming of burgers or something.

It's called the Peanut Butter Jellousy Burger.

    @lissa - now that's not a burger!

My friend from England makes these whenever she comes to Canada. She mixes maple syrup in with some of the bacon grease, to make the top glaze, and it helps the bacon bits stick. Way too delicious.

Bacon Maple Brownies. Doesn't get much more Canadian than that, unless they were Special Bacon Maple brownies ;)
