I don't KEM farm I just get donuts from: Recycling, Maggie's game, Daily Challenges, Level up, Sideshow You.
Got nearly 970 now as it had dropped to about a third of that last year plus I have bought some other stuff as well along the way.
Once I get a good refresh page then it will drop a bit.

KEMing doesn't really work for me as I cannot guarantee that sort of constant access.
Sometimes they are stuck in the Metal Depot for eight or even twelve hours.
    Plus I can wait anyway.
I wanted to do it yesterday but I will invariably do it tomorrow (ish).

I understand your access issues but many people like the OP do not have these issues and are looking for something faster. Once you get your multiplier up to around 800 you can generate significant amounts of donuts without needing to be on every 4 hours. My one secondary town was kem farmed to get multiplier up to 1500, primarily using mystery boxes. Between events I set everyone to 24 hour tasks and collect 40 plus donuts per day. The cash is now approaching 2 billion, and being over the 1234 per cent multiplier 2 RTT gives 9 donuts. This allows you to start clearing the yearbook box, which yields lots of characters and multiplier items.
If you want donut independence it is essential to farm for a while, and use proceeds to raise multiplier.
Just some thoughts for the newer people.
Unsolicited friends requests are all denied. Please PM me.
  • If there's something I want I just go buy it the amount you pay for donuts is stupid you should get more for what you pay but whatever
  • I have been doing this the last few weeks using the rat trap truck method, works like a dream and my multiplier is now over 1000.

Refresh the yearbook mystery box to make it easier to get what you want. I focused on buildings that come with characters to of course make even more cash to buy more rat trap trucks.

I don't bother KEM farming either since my multiplier is still relatively low, its only at 205% currently.

So instead I get most of my donuts from Find Maggie, Recycling and Daily Challenges primarily, with sometimes getting donuts from levelling up and occasionally from Sideshow You too.

You should be KEM farming at that level. You can switch to RTT around 1000%

I understand and appreciate your point, but you seem to have missed mine.

Some people may feel they are supposed to be KEM farming, and may feel like they are doing something wrong or a failure if they don't get anything like the returns posted about.
I know I did and it probably could of killed the game for me.

At the time I could get on every 4 hours, yes I did get additional donuts but not many, (20?, 30?, from 2 seperate occasions, can't remember), and I kept getting near or completely bankrupt and couldn't afford $300,000 for Maggie's game to make sure I get 3 donuts, is that ironic or m0r0nic of me personally and no one else.

And then of course I had to build the money back up again which took weeks to be viable, newer players, (as you point out), some would appreciate it, but I was a new player and I most certainly did not.
There is another way, believe it or not.

As well as about 970 donuts, (which could be higher but I have spent some now and again), I also have 15 million IGC, (which could also be higher as I am currently buying the last 4 columns of land to the sea, I have also spent 49 million on Road To Riches so far), which has fluctuated over the two and a half years I've been playing, and my bonus is about 330%

From completed 24 hour jobs and Recycling is about $430,000 a day.
Taxes, depending on when I can get access, $150,000 to about $300,000 a day, maybe a bit more.

With perseverance and patience there can be achievements and have a Springfield that is how you would like it, that is buying stuff that you like and not what you need, and you may not like what it looks like afterwards either.

That could be helpful to some players as well.

@KLmaker It sounds to me like you were KEM farming wrong. In my #3 Freemium game (games 1 and 2 are premuim - I bought donuts, an incredibly stupid thing for me to do at my income level) I buy 35 KEMs every 4 hours producing (currently) about 45 donuts per day - and my cash goes UP.
KEM farming is not an instant process. When I first started I was only bringing in 3 to 6 donuts a day.
Then I bought Mystery Boxes as I could afford them, slowly pushing up my Multiplier (and my Conform-o-meter), which increased the donut and cash payout... Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat...
My Multiplier is currently 782.85%, and about to go up since I have 661 donuts to spend on more Mystery Boxes to increase my Multiplier further.
I only have $37,176,521 currently, but that's way back up from ~$3,000,000 I pushed it down to by Rat Trap Truck farming a couple of weeks ago. Rat Trap Truck farming gets you donuts quickly but eats your cash supply, which sounds more like what you were doing. I was sitting on several hundred million bucks that I'd been saving up to buy the rest of the land, but then I realized that the land is always going to be there but my sanity is not. Convert all that cash to donuts then buy Mystery Boxes. Increase Multiplier. Get more donuts and cash...
Ok, so I just bought a load of Mystery Boxes. I have 3 donuts left, but I pushed my Multiplier up to 862.85% (that's an increase of 80%). I also got 18 more Lard Lad Donuts buildings that pay out at 135 (base) per 4 hours.

Somebody remind me in a week and I'll update on how many donuts I've gotten.

I must have been, I just could not get on with it.
KEM's everywhere squeezed into available land, because I was farming rather than buying the land.
If I bought the land in the first place, I might not have needed to spend the LT's from the nuked KL.
It will take a bit of time sending them to work and collecting them as well.
If I use the Send All at Employment Office they will go to the same place then crash the game when I collect.

You have to figure out how many KEMs you can buy per round and still increase your cash. Simple method: write down your cash at the beginning of the day, then again at the end. Subtract one from the other and if it's a positive number you're ok.

I have a boxed in area defined by stuff that can't be sold, so when I sell the KEMs I don't sell other stuff by accident. As you can see I've already picked up a few donuts - despite a goof up earlier today when I forgot to tap them in, sell them and replace for the next round (I was hungry and not thinking).

It sounds like you have a bigger problem here. I'd start by doing a clean reinstall of the game.
Make sure you know your log in name and password.
    1. Log out of the game.
    2. Uninstall the game from your device.
    3. Turn your device off. No, I did not say restart - I said TURN IT OFF.
    4. Wait at least one minute.
    5. Turn your device back on.
    6. Install the game.
    7. Start the game and wait for it to finish downloading ALL the updates before you try to play. VERY IMPORTANT! Do NOT try to go ahead and play. That's for new players only.
    8. Log in to the game.
    9. Now start playing.
If that doesn't fix your problems try storing a bunch of decorations and buildings you don't need. Cut it down to the bare basics.
If THAT doesn't fix your problems try borrowing a different device - preferably with a different OS - and playing on that device. Sometimes that fixes the problem. It's worked for me.

I expect it's the iPad, but it's not my iPad and there's no other device, so carry on regardless.

I know it hasn't been exactly a week, but I'll forget if I don't just go ahead and post.
I've missed a few rounds of KEM collections (3? 4?) and had crashes right in the middle of collecting donuts so the figures are off a little. But with KEM Farming, collecting, Maggie, etc:
    I'm now at 396 donuts and $67,831,317.
So that's 393 donuts in a week and my cash almost doubled.
I'd say KEM Farming works - if done right.

Oh, and I just traded in my donuts for Mystery Boxes. My Multiplier is now up to 917.10%. Just a few more weeks and I'll hit the magical 1234% mark I've heard about.
