How do the characters travel back and forth between SpringField and Krustyland?

They travel with "you" if they're free and not on jobs.

When you go to KL, they go to KL. when you go back to SF, they go back.

Yes. They only switch if they're free. Then they follow you and you can put them on jobs at either place.

Yes, they stay there doing their tasks. :P
