Roads and highways.

So I have recently been doing some remodelling and deep in my inventory I found the old krusty land highways.
These seem to be absolutely useless! They are an odd sized, have no corners and don't link to normal roads.
Also if you place down basic roads side by side you with a long divide down the middle it looks good......... That is until you move a tree or a building or anything. All the roads link on the corners giving lots of little roundabouts.
With the new car parking lot that just dropped in the summer games update this looks like a great way to add new road pieces.
What would I like to see?
1.Get rid of highway pieces (or make them sellable).
2.make new road pieces. 1 side with pavement (path/walkway) , 2 adjacent sides with pavement and 2 opposite sides with pavement.
3.make the pavement the only live part of the road. So you can place any item on the road.
4.paths. Make it so I can place all items on all paths. (this come from trying to place both itchy and scratchy balloons on krusty land paths.

I would love so see other people's views on these points.

    Or just double wide roads.

Not useless in my SF, it's the main divided highway into town from Canada:

I just used them for a drag strip. Please pardon my lousy stitching skills.

Great strip, very creative use of items. One question, those tents on the right, I recognize the Egyptian and Pagan tents, but can't remember where those dumpsters are from?

Thank you! Those are "nerd gold" chests and I believe they were from the harry potter-esque event we had a couple years ago. I was hoping they would be passable as tool chests for the pit area.

I like it. Ok highways can stay.
However I have none of those items except the basic cars and the Springfield arch.
@4junk3000 I like the double road set up but the pavement when linking to other items drives me crazy. How do you get your double road to stay divided I find whenever I put down or move another item my whole town turns in to a million roundabouts.......?

How about new roads that we can put cars on that match the old roads? Then we could just replace the roads we want to have cars on. Here's my Canadian border.

Moving roads wrecks carefully constructed roadways. If you have to move buildings around roads/rivers/boardwalks, tap on the sleep roadway icon. Moving even one road tile, river section, or boardwalk will undo all of your hard work. This grid work has been undamaged for months. If I need to move it I rebuild it in its new location, then destroy the old one.

  • Mentioning the truck truck truck parking lot: I placed mine rather hastily and now I can’t move it to a better spot! The truck truck truck stores and places just fine - is there a trick to the new lot?

There's a very thin line along the edge where the lamps are. You have to grab that. It's easiest with the area tool.

That's why I mentioned the new road types .ie only the pavement part being active then you would lay a strip of pavement with a road attached that could over lap with anything.
@spyder1952850 i was actually moving roads the last time is happen. I had a tree in the way so deleted it then linked the to ends of road all looked good and I exited edit mode. then my game connection reset like so many times..... And pop all roads linked on all sides.
My whole SF was double roaded at the time with nice central divisions.

Is that grid too big for a group move? Does it hold together when you group move? I would think it would.

As Spider mentioned, you have to switch off the GROUND category EVERY TIME you do a move. Attempting to move any roads will trigger this bug that ruins the "double thick median" of a 2x wide road.

It hasn't always been this way. The bug was introduced shortly after the Area Select Tool was added to the game. They never fixed it.

I usually remember to switch it off, but i have forgot occasionally, and the only thing to do is delete one lane and then replace it.
