A Complaint

Dear EA (for it is thEAm),

For the first time in many, many months, my game is stable. For the last ten days, it hasn’t Barted me even once.

I’ve thrown everything at it I could. I’ve collected everything with Sky Finger and all the character jobs at the same time as fast as I could. I’ve bounced mid-collection to visit Friends and come back without donut loss. Despite my best efforts, the game is playing correctly and smoothly like it did back in the very early days.

I have no idea what’s wrong. I suspect there’s been layoffs in the EA Department responsible for Deliberately Screwing Things Up, or the one where Complaints Are Received But Totally Ignored.

I am deeply disappointed that someone in EA, who I suspect was trained incorrectly, has taken it upon themselves to fix the game. We are used to the game crashing and falling over time and time again, not game stability. Clearly this misguided individual must be tracked down and retrained to stop fixing things. I was sure EA monitored things internally to ensure competence and customer satisfaction were not maintained.

I know you will take this grave matter as seriously as I do, and you will investigate it with urgency so that normal unstable and frustrating service is resumed as soon as possible, as we have all grown to expect but stupidly carry on anyway.

Yours,

  • ^^ some people are only happy when they are sad. See you in detention!
  • Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had any real issues with the game. Could it be device related?
Make Nightmare Pile like Zombie Sandwich. All kids trick or treat at once.
  • I'm on iPhone 11 pro and for the last week I've not had a single crash doing task or even donut collecting but before that I'd have several crashers a day so they've done something.
Probably start crashing again soon now I've said something.

  • You are right! I just played five rounds of trucks harvesting and it didn't crash at all. Furthermore my hp is borderline on resources with only 300MB of internal memory
  • I have to agree. I had to make a lot of donuts in 4 towns (RTT), as I just didn't get around to doing much. (I really don't like this event, I find the prizes to be terrible) . Previously, I never would put more than 15 RTT down because of Bart screens. I pushed it yesterday, generated a couple thousand donuts over the 4 towns and not one time losing em. I was putting 50 or 60 RTT down at a time. It's a nice change, hope it lasts.
Unsolicited friends requests are all denied. Please PM me.
  • It must be nice. I'm still getting kicked out of the games regularly. Not as often as last month mind you, but still often enough I can't trust to buy more than one Rat Trap Truck at a time (which is how many RTTs I need to get Bonuts, btw).
Unfortunately your local internet is a large factor in having a stable connection to the servers, and ours is... Less than perfect. It's better than satellite. WAY better than satellite. But still.
  • Shhhh... don't let thEAm know! ;)

    Yup, just crashed collecting donuts.
  • Yes now I couldn't get into the game. Donuts keep spinning
  • I've noticed this too.
Just the other day I was able to place more than 5 Rat Trap Trucks without a crash.

I managed over 200 without a single crash which is amazing.

This. Whatever they did, it's a godsend. I was ready to throw the game in the trash, since it stopped me from doing pretty much the only things left to do in the game once in-game cash max is reached - donut farming and visiting friends.
  • I'm new to EA & this game But I'm enjoying Simpson's Tapped Out. I have a question about how my game runs. Playing on Kindle Fire Tablet HE 8. Game takes long time to load & long time loading when switching screens (for example from my town to friends' towns & back again). Sometimes there is a long pauses in game play, such as when starting a challenge or moving things around in my town. If I have a pause in my game play the game shuts down & then reloads (another long wait) to resume play. I've checked troubleshooting & performed all suggestions - reinstallation of game, force stop & restart, clearing all cache, etc. Still happens. Is this an "Amazon app/Kindle tablet" thing? I've noticed similar problems with other game apps & it all seems to be related to using Amazon platform. Thanks in advance for your help. God bless!

Yes, Fire tablets are slow. For nice responsiveness in the same form factor get an iPad mini.
  • Yeah, it would be nice to get a different device, but things being as they are, I've got what I got & need to work with it. Any suggestions for making do with Kindle? Thanks & God bless.

I run my B town on a 5th generation 7" Kindle - the ID for that is 338008GrahamS
The town is about 10 months old now, level 939 and 530% bonus and apart from the friends towns saying I have no neighbours almost all of the time it runs quite well usually.
Yes it is a little slow to load and on rare occasions it will crash but it's usually lag and problem free.
I will add that it is all I use the Kindle for, and it won't cope with my huge main town, but so far so good . . .

One suggestion, see what else is running.
Have a look at recent apps ( the square at the bottom of the screen ) and see if it's busy with other things you could close while you play.
Another place to check is in settings. Go to Manage Apps and swipe over to see what is running and if you can force-stop some of them to give more resources to running the game while you play - it does need quite a bit of memory and processor power as well as lots of storage for the game data.

Edit - If you get friends towns that are huge and your device was struggling anyway it will be no end of trouble trying to visit them.
    My Kindle can't cope with my A town - 1-Graham-S - even as a neighbour !!
