Is it commentary from the developers or just the general feeling of Springfielders during the destruction?

It's cool too see the different ones. Its obvious @spyder1952850 device is longer than mine. Maybe the commentary was meant just for you

Although I would be honored if that were true, it is that way for anyone with an iPad. It really does make one wonder if the have to create a different screen for each platform. And I can see them doing just that because they can.🤪

Probably just has key features like Homer, finger and tapped out logo which pans to screen size of a original image

You're close. It's done with multiple overlays. I've had screen glitches where various parts of the splash screen were missing, like the logo or Skyfinger.
