Is there anyway I can change my user name without having to start a new Springfield?

You can do it on the Origin website. I had two towns and I decided to use the second one as my primary one in future so I switched the names with no problems.

I just did. All my progress in Tapped Out, and other Origin games, was saved. The stuff on the forums was not, though.

Why couldn't he just change his game name and use his old name on the forum to keep his post count? I have one neighbor who posts here that did just that.

    I'm a girl :P
But how exactly do you change the game name? I'm not going to do it unless I know for sure that it will work. It's not worth losing all my stuff, I've got quite a few things you can't get anymore like the Mapple Store and the flower shop and Whacking Day stuff.
It's not really worth it just to change the name to something else. I'm not quite sure how I even wound up with this strange automated name to begin with.

Ahh the external question that has many varied answers! :?

There have been many people on here in the past who have stated that when they changed their user name here they lost their game as well, and there has been people who have stated it has been fine.

What i believe it maybe is the following:

If your user name/email is the same as your game then it not a good idea to change your name , But if your game information is different to your forum details then it should be fine :)

Hope that all makes sense :)

Edit: Oh yeah if you do change your details on the forum all post counts would be lost

Look a few posts up. Someone mentioned you can do it on the origin website. It can't be done on the ipad. You need to download origin to your computer.

When I first signed up, I could pick my own name. That's something if they assign it to you now. I can understand why you'd want to change it.

Promotion is nothing to do with post count mate, it is done on the 22nd of each month via a random selection, providing you are active around the 21st / 22nd you should get picked :)

People may say this isnt so but trust me it is how it works

Hopefully today is your day :) You will receive a PM in your inbox stating you have been promoted btw

This may explain why my start date changed from March to July. I did make some changes in Origin. Doh!
