Same here. Clicking on friends gives the load screen, friends screen visible for 1ms and then it says cannot connect to server please retry. I got notifications of other friends visiting me though and I removed friends that haven't played in a while to no avail.
Also my own Springfield is very unstable, a lot of cannot connect messages, every second or minute.
Same with me. I visit friends in the evenings. Two nights ago I had a few friends who I couldn't connect too. They both hadn't been on for a week or more, so I removed them. All the others were fine. Last night, I got the flash of other Springfield and disconnect. Tried again this morning and same thing. I'm also getting disconnected during my game much more often than before the update. Hope it's fixed soon!
Just curious ... Did everyone that is having this issue delete friends at any point? My issue ony started after I deleted the non-users (had not logged in in over a week). Or is this issue across the board? I still have people visiting my Springfield and when I log out of origin and log back in I am getting friend requests ... Also frustrating that even though they are "friends" ther is no way to message them ...
Hard to say, I had been deleting people here and there and it still worked, so yes I deleted people, it worked and then out of the blue last night it stopped working, not sure if the two would be related or not. I have contemplated logging back out and back in so I can delete most everyone, but I am holding off on that as I really another sure that that is the problem.
Except things are getting even worse for me now. Yesterday I couldn't connect to friends. Today I can't even play my own Springfield for more than 10 seconds without getting booted with the same message and having to reconnect.
Exact same thing... Although I might be a little luckyer when i will just keep on reconnecting until my connection is good.

Anyhow, thanks to the online forums --- I tried someone's suggestion and it worked
It seems that - for me at least - I had a corrupted "friend" profile. So I had to remove my bad friend and then everything worked again ! I no longer get the periodic "server retry" and I can connect to friends again.
Of course, to get to your origin account when you can't get to 'friends' is a pain - thanks again EA for making it a pain the ***.. you have to try to get to friends, then when you see the origin "LOGOUT" button, you log out -- then log in .. but DONT go to the game - stay in ORIGIN.
Select the friends tab select a friend then view profile. Click the + symbol there you'll find a remove friend option
I got lucky,, I new the friend name of the friend that I could not get to in several weeks, so I removed that one first -- it was the one that was causing me all the problems
I've had the same problems since the update. At least a few days now. The game is really glitchy with the no connection to server issue. I too can not connect with my friends. It can not connect to server when I try to visit other Springfields.
Same problem here as everyone is describing. So frustrating! It's such a fun game, but the bugs and the slow loading time is really putting me off buying more donuts. I don't feel reassured that I will keep the items I buy with them.
I didn't know which of my friends were playing or not, so I delete ALL my 100 friends (just for the record, I have to download another game : Monopoly Hotels, because on tapped out can't login) after delete all my friends i was able to login and add friends that are playing also visiting them without any problem. I know this don't solve everyone problems, it just solve the problem when you can't visit friends because bart appears always you try to visit friens, it works, i know and a lot of ppl i've said about this and having the same problem also worked for them.

Did you delete all your friends? Or just some? If just some you may not have deleted the friends that are causing the problem.
