Greyed out characters for land mining

Prev1
Can someone explain why I can’t send characters to land mine in SH? I guess I’m not following the 1/3 next to the characters. I didn’t see land mining details posted, so apologies if this has been answered.

You need 3 maps to send 1 character to get 1 deed. The 1/3 means you have 1 of 3 maps needed. Maps take 8 hours to generate at the shack.

Ok, so that makes sense. But what just happened, was it said all my characters were available to prospect (they showed 3/3). I sent one character, and the rest of them grayed out immediately.

Sorry, this seems to be going way over my head. If the shack takes 8 hours to generate a map, then how do you get all of the characters to prospect together?…wait days and days?
  • Prospector shack gives out 1 map every 8 hrs. So it needs 24 hrs to issue 3 maps for a prospecting character to use. Prospecting takes 8 hours to earn 1 deed. So all in all you need 32 hours back to back just to earn a deed.

So if the land cost 7 deeds you would need 224 hours just to get that plot, around 9.33 days back to back.

I think this is how it works?

When you first repair the bridge, you start out with 10 maps, enough to send 3 characters and have 1 map left over.

@168sean168 that is how it works!

  • So basically this is the opposite of SH currency. You can send ALL characters to gain SH currency. But here you have to wait a few days to do it (sending all)?

Ya, they sure put in a lot of effort to slow down users from accessing the land

Trying to coerce that cash purchase of 900 donuts! It's a clever move though. Even I'm considering it. If they had raised the limit more than a measly 1000, i would have already bought it. But I'm going to max out before i can restore my monorail so I'm not sure if I'll buy yet
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
  • How does the item limit work with the decorations on the new land tiles? Does storing the trees, rocks and buffalo make a difference I wonder…

    yes they're still decos

  • I've spent the whole day buying plots with 15 donuts each instead of waiting for the stupid land deed process to drag out. More than a few of the mines pay out 10+ donuts so it's not all that expensive to just buy them and start building, provided you have the sprinkles on hand. I've also moved a bunch of buildings from Springfield into the heights to lay out a fairly nifty western township. Oh, and yes, you have to buy TWO of the special monorail bridges if you want to send your monorail into the "new" territory and bring it back across - that's 40 donuts for the pair. But, it's kinda cool to be buying and building again. I guess it's worth it.

Cool, so the item increase is only 1000.... but you can squeeze more out of it by storing rocks and buffalo and also by switching out groups of single trees for these new ones. Not bad...

You can sell all the decoration as well if you don’t want to store them.
  • This crap is annoying its like dangling the carrot 🥕 before the horse. Not that I'm in a hurry for the land. I almost can't be bothered to log in every 8 hrs. I even have the lame building that gives me 12 maps every 24 hrs

  • For me after 1 character completes the deed task I can’t do the 2nd task all the characters are grayed out. What am I doing wrong? I just don’t get it! I have 1/3 completed

It only gives 5 maps per 24 hours

Prospector shack generates 1 map every 8 hours. You need 3 to send a character to make a land deed. The 1/3 means you only have 1 map. you need 2 more.
  • I know this is simple given some thought, but I couldn’t be bothered thinking about it beyond grind vs donuts.
  • After I send a character to complete the 1st deed & it’s done I’ll get the deed it says 1/3 but can’t go any further. After that 1st deed all the characters who can get deeds are grayed out. The only thing working is the collect donuts after 8 hours. Like I said I’m so confused & just don’t get it. Something that should be simple too
  • the Deeds are kept track of at the top where it says 0/50 with a max of 50 you can have. The 1/3 under the character tasks works just like Springfield Heights. It is showing how many maps you have out of the 3 you need to send that character on task to make a Deed.
The shack gives you 1 Map every 8 hours Jackpot Realty gives you 5 Maps every 24 hours. Even with Jackpot Realty, this will be slow process
If you farm donuts, it is more efficient to just buy the land with donuts than to use donuts to rush the tasks, at least for the plots costing 1 Deed. I am planning on just rushing all the land with donuts
  • Indeed....the production cycle for this event is designed from the 'git-go' to encourage players to buy donuts with $. The turnover rate for deeds is simply too prolonged to see it any other way. And of course, acquiring new plots is also designed to be VERY long-term so if you do not have the donuts on hand, you have no choice but to sit back and wait for the cycle to pay off. I'm wondering what the next event will look like when we have main characters tied up doing nothing but waiting for maps so they can go prospect. In fact, I see no practical reason to send more than one character at a time to prospect if you have donuts on hand and don't mind spending them to expand SH. Clearly, the main objective is to offer the new land plots but make them so hard to acquire that players (out of frustration) will bite the bullet and spend their Christmas $ on TSTO.
