First try making more space on your device.
Clean off 6-8 gbs of space and reboot device. It may download again and then be good. If on IOS, make sure the offload apps feature is turned off, clear your cache, clear history on safari and spotify if you use them and you may need 10 gb free or 10% of your total storage free. IOS lies about how much free space you have so clear off everything you can.
If you have more than 6 gigs of space clear your cache, uninstall, reboot, reinstall, do not play while downloading Only do this if you have an account.

I did all this... still didnt help. Someone over at TSTO Addicts reported they have 32 gigs of free storage and is having the same issue...
For those who are using Android and the game keeps crashing at the Splash Screen I just talked to EA Help thru Chat and this is what I was told
"First of all I apologize for the inconvenience, I would like to inform you that this is a known issue and has already been reported to the technical team as many players are facing this issue and at this very moment they are trying to fix it."
So it appears its not a storage issue but a known bug that they are working on

Urg. I was just playing. Then went to check, saw the update and installed it... now I can't open the game either
Talking to EA support is a waste of time. You'll talk to some random people in a call center who have no idea what a game is, and every time you reply something, you get someone else answering.
I have over 50GB of free storage on my device, so no, space isn't the issue here.
Dealing with the same issue as all the above. I have plenty of space on my Fire tablet and haven't had any issues with past updates. Since I've downloaded this update, it won't go past the splash screen. It just shuts itself off and goes back to my home screen. I know I'm missing out on event currency and the prize track and very disappointed, as I'm a completionist when it comes to these events and this game in general. PLEASE, EA solve this issue ASAP!

Ive had success borrowing an apple device. Im in my town after two diferent androids couldnt do it. Try to find one to use temporarily
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
