For the most part this season (the last 12-13 episodes) have been pretty good. The previous 12 episodes were horrendous and should be destroyed (ones like Amy and Leela as fighting butterflies)
I have the whole season on TIVO....I think we may still see some more Futurama again.....in the future, of course.
Yep, there's still a crossover episode with the Simpsons coming and Groening/Cohen have hinted at more straight to DVD Futurama if another network doesn't pick up the show.

A good oportunity for Netflix to maybe produce a few seasons.....

Let's hope they have the sense to do that. Or at least offer the seasons if they are released on DVD. They have to come up with some good content if they want people to keep paying that $10 a month.
Totally agree about South Park, it's way too political now and usually in a very unsubtle way. If I wanted to see people whining about the Republicans for half an hour I'd watch The Daily Show. I still watch every episode though cos I've watched it since the start and refuse to abandon ship!

South Park is phenominal now, you guys are nuts. It peaked at around season 9-11 I'll agree but compare it now to season 2 and it's so much better. Yes it's satirical, but it's the best satire on TV right now. The fact that it's a show that's transitioned from toilet humour to intelligent social commentary is remarkable. It's like The Simpsons in reverse.
(Yes, maybe that's a cheap shot against The Simpsons, but when the first 12 or so series are possibly the best shows of all time, any subsequent episodes are bound to be compared to the golden years.)

I agree that they do have some great episodes lately and poke fun at timely stuff. The problem for me is that is all they do and that also makes the episodes less timeLESS. A joke about James Cameron and a submarine or Tom Cruise coming out of the closet may work now, but years later it won't be as watchable as some shows are.
That's the point of the show now though, and I think as long as you're aware of the original reference then it'll still hold up to repeat viewings later on. I don't think it's a coincidence that the poorest shows are the ones that aren't parodies, satire or don't provide social commentary, Pee from Season 13 for example, or Funnybot from 15.

Are you slating the Simpsons on a Simpsons forum
I think the recent seasons have been very good.
The show that has totally tanked over the years is South Park.
With risk of upsetting a few people, i never liked South Park :P
