To Haunt or not to Haunt

You know someone should really try this to definitively find out... I've been avoiding double haunting in case it does "steal" ghosts but I'm not sure if 2 people have actually tried it out. Good question!

I have a hard time believing that this would take anything away from your neighbor's count. I have a feeling that people are saying this because when you click on a building that's already haunted, on our end, the ghost clears away. We don't know what the neighbor sees afterwards.

I've "double haunted" a couple of times. Works out well for me. I'm sure their buildings are perfectly fine despite. :)

I have noticed that several buildings in my town are haunted by the Ghosts. Could that be the result of double haunting? Granted, I get 2 goo from those. So...

I can't remember who or what thread, but somebody with two accounts did test it, and it DOES un-haunt the building and take away potential goo from your neighbor. Apparently it works the same way that the graffiti/mop work when you vandalize during regular game play.

That said, I haven't tested it myself, so I can't confirm it. I definitely believe it though. I know I'm getting visited a lot, but often times when I wake up in the morning, there won't be nearly as many buildings haunted as the number of visitors would suggest.

Yeah, that's what I'm confused about. I've seen that a number of times as well. Maybe buildings can hold two haunts, but the third wipes them out? Or maybe some buildings can't be un-haunted?

It works out for you, but not the person that owns the town. It removes the fog over the building, so the owner sees just that, no fog, meaning no haunt. You essentially "stole" 2 goo from the town owner for yourself because you were too lazy to pick a different building.

It's very easy to avoid. Tap 3 unhaunted buildings, then go crazy with the 5-8 ghosts. You don't have to do the ghosts first.

The owner can also "tell" when buildings are unhaunted, since you'll either likely leave evidence of yourself with only 1-2 hauntings, or leave evidence of another of their friends only taking 1-2 buildings. So either way it's obvious someone is doing it.

Well, either way, the GOO lost by one person is going to be rather minimal, and it's still counted on the community tally. I'm sure that even if GOO is stolen, the "victims" are still going to get their prizes easily, despite this minor setback.

I think this whole thing is being made a bigger deal than it really is. Is a person here and a person there double tapping a building REALLY making any kind of a difference at all? Absolutely not. If you need an extra GOO or two and you can pick it up in my town, be my guest. No sweat off my back. I'll be perfectly fine. :)

I agree that it's not a big deal, but it is kind of shady if a person is doing it intentionally. But I would guess (hope) that most are either doing it by accident or doing it because they don't know any better.

I did test it out. I had my main town open on my iPad, and a secondary town on my iphone. I haunted a building in my main town, then opened a third town of my on my iphone and haunted the same building in my main town again. I then let my main town resync and I watched as that building went from being tappable to just having ghosts flying around it to just back to normal. I never was able to tap on it

Thanks, dromtsul. That's the one. Forgot it required three accounts, of course.

It's not about the loss of Goo. While it can be mininal, it could be more severe.

Say you have 100 friends. 50 friends tag 3 buildings each (300 Goo). Then the other 50 un-tag all 150 buildings. Thats 300 Goo lost for the town owner. So 300 a day, at say 30 days, that's 9000 Goo, or 9/10s of the amount needed for the total event.

While that's an extreme answer, it can be up to that amount. It's also about etiquette too. Would you want to lose out on Goo? If that answer is no, why un-haunt a haunted building? Why not pick a one of the hundred other buildings? It's a selfish task to un-haunt a building. Accidents happen, but they can easily be avoided. Scroll away from the landing zone and pick other buildings. Then tap the ghosts. I have no problem with this strategy, doesn't add in that much extra time at all (milliseconds really).

Accidents happen but don't double haunt that's the key simple
