Sonny, I think you deserve props for your efforts in the TSTO forums.

I originally found these forums while looking for confirmation of issues found while playing as well as tips to improve my game play. After lurking for a bit, what I found was a warm, comfortable place to come and share in my addiction of TSTO.

Along with spiffshine, DoeMoe, and julesg007 (to name just a few), I have found that the forum regulars here have made these forums almost as entertaining and enjoyable for me as the actual game play. I thank you all for your civility, respect, and above all, for helping to make this place a bed of roses in the cesspool that is the internet :)

I dont think its fair to dismiss those who have legitimate problems as whiners. Personally, i have been lucky enough to have had a nearly glitch free experience, but that isnt the case for everyone. I feel bad for the many people who have experienced game breaking glitches, erased towns, etc.

Some of the complaints have been very legitimate, such as the premium items not granting any bonus to money/xp (not sure if thats fixed yet, havent been reading the forums or checking the in game numbers recently.)

That being said, i agree with your sentiments for the most part and am also impressed with the level of friendliness and helpful attitude on this essentially unmoderated forum. Lots of cool people here!

Oh for sure there most certainly were plenty of legitimate complaints, I was more talking about the fatigue of this place becoming a support desk without the official support. People came here looking for answers or a place to vent and for the rest of us it was like we were being drowned out. Happily, now that the game's a lot more stable things have quietened down. I'm crossing my fingers that there's not going to be a resurgence every month though.

Its been good this past week (apart from the Sneal ordeal), not too many threads all about the same topic and some good threads with design ideas for the towns, its given me something to implement myself into my Springfield

If there was a traditional mod or admin here, the members wouldn't have to police the forum. It is nice not to see some of the same threads over and over though.

I am really enjoying this forum more now. I have been on these forms since 26 June I think but I left for a while because I lost my town and it really annoyed me. Now I am back and it is better than ever.

Just wondering which regulars have spaces left as well. I got some spaces and want some more regulars on my list, thanks.

Other than that it's people sharing ideas, discussing their towns, getting to know each other, really building a community around the game. What's more (and to the delight of my inner grammar ****), everyone is polite, respectful and with eloquent and relevant comments and topics. A really great global mix of all kinds of ages, backgrounds and genders too!

THIS is what keeps me here. I've come in and out of forums only to feel somewhat ignored and unimportant due to some people's obsession with seniority, regardless of my stellar forum etiquette. Forums really take the shape of their most active members, and somehow through some divine miracle the active members here are intelligent, considerate, and surprisingly inviting toward newbies. I've never felt undermined or unwanted. I feel as though most of the people here could actually get along and have fun in real life! ...even if that fun would be sitting around swapping Springfield design ideas, gushing over each others towns, adding each other and discussing the antics of this forum  don't worry sonny, I'm sure they'd let us smoke off to the side ;p
So here's to all of us, let this forum remain a productive happy place. Cheers!

I gave up on this forum a while ago because of the problems you mentioned, although it seems to have improved a lot since then. I wish someone like you would be appointed as mod- imagine how great it would be if there seperate forums for 'add me' threads, in-game problems and questions, general simpsons fandom, etc.

I dont mean to derail your thread about no complaining by complaining, so let me say that the level of discourse has vastly improved here and it looks like the true super fans are becoming the majority. This game rocks, and the amount of new content added in the past few months is amazing.

EDIT: i meant to quote sonny1618, and this post was a response to his... and when i say 'you' i meant him.

The sentiments of all is truly echoed with me.
It is useful when playing TSTO to learn from others and also assist others.
The problems in the game especially in the early days were extremely bothersome and I personally experienced some of these but since starting over in early October have been trouble free - hope it stays that way.
This forum is a great community - I lurched for a while but happy now to join in and contribute to this great forum.

I've been offline on the forum for quite awhile, but happy to see a better sense of community in our little Springfield(s) has emerged while I was out. Sounds like you and other have put in quite an effort. I agree, We were definitely running our own little support desk there for awhile, which was getting quite a bit draining. Glad to see the change

@HelloKenney: you are right, There are still a few issues in Springfield that need addressing, like Grandpa Simpsons worsening Alzheimer's. We all agree there is still a place for that.... If you are looking to be constructive about it. I think it was just the vulgar complaints dropped on here with out looking for any solutions that was wearing on everyone trying to have a sense of community here, is what he is alluding to. It's just refreshing to see the improvement with the majority of the attitudes and overall to finally see some stability to the game. Happy Tapping!

Of course! Although with so much smoke they may make us go outside

Oh and I forgot to say- the Facebook and YouTube communities are so draining. It's nearly painful to read. It took all of my strength to fight the youthful college-aged urge to maintain my Facebook, but I've been "clean" from it for a few months now. My IQ couldn't thank me enough.

As a relative newcomer to posting (lurked for a while) who hopes to become a '"regular" I too am pleased by the level of relative civility around these parts. Now if we could just get a mod to combine all the redundant "add me" and grandpa/Cletus looping task threads we'd be set. Heck I'll do it EA (waving hand in air)

    Here here. +1

Seems like I came in at the right time. Most bugs worked out and an active community. Also got some cool Halloween swag and Tony!!

Enjoy looking at some high level Springfield so if you have a cool one add me a friend. I am on 10 times a day. :)

Whomever started the thread with the EA prez email was the straw that broke the camels back. That entire thread was redacted and then came along a EA rep to the forum. That, even though I thought it would do nothing, got the ball rolling.

I couldn't agree more Sonny. Kudos to everyone, the fact that everyone is so friendly and smart and helpful is what brings me back here daily.

 wow I didn't know that, hadn't thought to check. But I've got to say you're probably right! Who knew letter writing campaigns actually worked?!

No holds barred considering with no moderators, just a few hiccups, but generally it's good.

It's the same for me. I usually lurk and do not post that much, because I have to think what I want to say in English and then write it correctly: most of the time I'm too lazy to do that (feel like doing writing assignments... and in addition I'm never sure if what I wrote is understandable), but it's a pleasure to read you.

And, I have to add, it's not only a pleasure to read this forum because of the contents, which vary and are usually interesting (I love this game and I'm happy to find people who share my enthusiasm!) , but also... because of your syntax and grammar! It's rare to find a forum where punctuation marks and capital letters are used. If it's a pain to read sentences without commas and points but with lots of acronyms and abbreviations for native speakers, for non-native speakers it's a nightmare! (Yes, I'm a grammar **** like Sonny. If you respect grammar you respect people ;o)

    Anyway, thank you all ;)
